American Pomerol. Smooth and rich with dark fruit, forest floor, tobacco leaf. Sadly my last bottle.

Last minute substitution for a '97 Pride merlot which I suspect was heat damaged. No opportunity to decant, but it was slow-O'd for probably two hours. Similar to my last note, lots of blackberry here. I enjoyed this bottle more than the last one - the fruit is rich, but there's a savory bramble/herb component that balances it out. Agree with the notes below that this comes across as very young.

Small pour. Brief note. This just hit me as overly ripe, high toned, black fruits, firm tannins. Maybe it needed better context, but I couldn't do it.

Dark and rich with smooth tannins. Blackberry and blackberry liquor on the nose and palate. Bolder than the 2001 and 2002. 90-91

Still a very young Spring Mountain Merlot coming from Pride after some 13 years. Dark, dark berries, black cherry, blackberry, and a subtle note of oak and eucalyptus on the nose that blew off after about 45 minutes. Very intense, full-bodied Merlot with distince dark fruit that explodes on the palate. Balanced with medium to firm tannin and just pleasant vanilla notes. Cherry, plum and berries on the palate rounded delicately with vanilla, licorice and a touch of clove. Lovely.

Still very rich. Will be good for years to come. Does not show any signs of age. The wine is still rich and weighty on the palate - a very dark red, with a slight sediment beginning to settle in the bottle. The nose opens up after time and shows lovely violet, dark berry and meaty aromas.

Very nice merlot with plush texture, good varietal character, some smoke, violets and creaminess. Chocolate notes. Nicely balanced but with good acidity. Kept getting better with air.

Decanted 3 hours prior to tastiing. Soft on entry but the fruit was quite restrained and turned unduly tannic quickly. It felt like a nicely made wine but just did not deliver much.

rich dark fruit with some secondary complexity, mouthcoating tannins, coffee/cocoa finish. big bold merlot; showing more youthfulness that the bottle I had last month.

Simply outstanding with T-bone steaks hot off the BBQ. Not decanted; poured 20 minutes before sitting down to eat. Started a little tight, but soon opened with enormous fruit, hints of cocoa, great mouthfeel, long finish. Superb.

I've had this before and thought it was almost undrinkable. This bottle was much better.

Pop and pour. Mellowing out, this wine in probably in its peak. Fruit is well-integrated and lush, but no particular notes screaming out at you. No rush to drink, I'll likely kill my last bottle within 18 months.

This wine has tons of huge dark fruit in Pride's usual big style, new world style. This one was a little over oaked for my palate, but still very enjoyable.

Similar to notes from others. Smooth and well-integrated, softening from its release. Although well-balanced, no particular strong fruit notes come through.

Several wines and ... a roasted pig in the tradition of Asterix & Obelix! : Oak bomb. There is no sufficient fruit to support the oak treatment. A dissapointment. Bomba de roble. Es como chupar la corteza de un arbol. No hay suficite fruta para soportar tanto roble. Una decepci[on dado el costo.
