Kemmeter Wines Riesling Seneca Lake

Prior bottle was nearly 10 months ago and this wine remains in a very good spot. Nose was virtually identical with apple, pear, floral and mineral notes. Medium bodied with apple and pear upfront and then melon combined with a richer peach through the middle. Backside continues to show very good acidity, melon and citrus, finishing with lengthy mineral qualities. There's still plenty of backbone/acidity, it just feels like the fruit is more open and expressive and more in balance with the structure so it doesn't have quite the tart, greenfruit edge it started out with. First from bottle, previously tasted 11 months ago at the winery and it was even more expressive tonight. Green apple, melon, floral and slate on the nose. Close to medium bodied with white orchard fruit upfront (apple, pear), but as it warmed, the mid-body showed more tropical qualities of pineapple and orange. Good acidity throughout, but especially on the finish where it asserted itself pleasantly, creating nice tension and good length as the green apple and melon came back along …

Tasted at the winery. Very aromatic nose of floral notes and crisp white orchard fruits. Showed more body than the 2015 Pinot Cuvee (11.8% ABV) and sourced 91% from the Gibbson Vineyard and 9% from the Kemmeter Estate Vineyard. Impressive mix of white orchard fruit upfront (apple, pear, peach, melon), balanced with excellent acidity throughout and good spice and mineral notes on the finish.
