Opened in Hong Kong. The bottle was already slow-oxed for a few hours by the time I had my glass, which was very generously shared by a friend. Perfectly in its prime now, this villages lieu dit rises to a higher quality level than many nearby 1 ere crus. Cathiard adds that layer of rustic,yet elegant earthy complexity, even in a 2011. While a tiny bit tighter than a nice 2012 or 2010, this wine has the dark red earthy notes in sufficient complex harmony that the less perfect vintage does not interfere with the pure pleasure of consuming this. I rated the wine as per its classification, and this is outstanding for a village level wine. The nose right after pulling the cork burst with an array of red fruits and cool notes, followed by a surprising sweet dark berries mouthfeel -unexpected for a Village level in that cold vintage. The finish is lifted by soft minerals and succulent acids, and nothing is out of balance here. I like the lightness on its feet yet it has excellent depth …

Vintage 2011 Tasting : light to med wt red gentle cherry fragrance, muted pure red cherry, a hint of dark cherry and just a little earthy development. A lovely combination, not overly intense but well balanced. delicate but delicious.

A high toned nose of pure pinot fruit and a hint of oak. Very bright acidity. The palate is loaded with sour red cherries. There is a hint of spice from the oak on the palate, sous bois and a tiny bit of greenness. Good today but not currently drinking as well as the 2011 Cathiard Vosne Romanee.

Similar to last tasting but was more herbal with a bit of charcoal and smoke. Palate was nice and linear. Light with refreshing acidity and red fruits.

More open on day two. Nice sweet perfumed fruit with mixed berry and spice. Low oak compared to other vintages. Drinking well now with some air.

@Fred_Lund: Very Cathiard. Less Chambolle. Has that house typical mix of sweet, scorched oak. If you love Chambolle you should look elsewhere.

Fragrances of the meat in cherries. Something oiled rainforests-tree and vanilla. Odor remind me of sweetness in the smell of Coca-Cola. Soft, mellow and delicious typical Chambolle odor. Beautiful. In the mouth cherries, cherrystones. Tannins like chewing and sucking on cherrystone and grapestone, without being bitter. A little wooden taste, still this tropical. Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL) : Tasting, brief note. Lots of red and black cherry, a bit of new oak spice that needs time to integrate better. Great fruit dominates for now without lots of complexity. Very easy to drink now.

More red spectrum fruits than the Bourgogne, lovely intense aromas. Wonderful perfume, wonderful fruit on the entry too. Lovely elegance and silkiness and very good length. Fans out like a Peacocks tail. Very well made. 91-94
