Domaine Beausejour Chinon

Still youthful in appearance with a deep ruby core and a narrow. Pale ruby rim. Nose shows dark fruits, bilberry and blackcurrant, plenty of pencil shaving, touch of cocoa and rich soil. Medium/full bodied on the palate this has quite rich fruit and the tannins, although now much better integrated are still a touch chewy. Mainly black berries again, pencil shavings, balanced acidity, some spice showing, medium/good length finish. Good +, will probably hold for a few years a yet.

Quaffable, but nothing special. Bit overpriced for what it was.

Very youthful and surprisingly purple core with narrow pale purple rim. Savoury black fruited nose with blackcurrant and plum fruit, cocoa notes and pencil lead. Fresh and appetising on the palate, again black fruited with pencil lead, cocoa and earth, decent depth of fruit but some quite rustic tannins take over a bit on the finish. Deep cherry red colour, attractive fresh berry friuts on the nose, ripe on the palate with some tannin but well balanced & harmonious. Drinking well now but will improve and continue to develop for at least 4-5 years.
