Honeydew, apricot, wheatgrass, petrol - moderate acid brings the fleshy fruit to the fore. Rich and luxurious mouthfeel. Plenty of life on this bottle, so no rush imo.

Germany & Austria WIMPS #198 27th February 2026 (La Trompette, Chiswick) : Cashew brittle, banana leaf, beeswax, dried banana chip and a couple of ppm of Ricola (original Swiss herb) lozenge. Palate is full and rich. There’s some honied papaya on the mid palate. Finish is on the bruised apple and marzipan. Some think not correct but this is lovely if not quite singing as strongly as its flight mates.

A class act. 2006 was a difficult vintage for the region and JJ Prum was no exception. They did manage to produce this wine and what a wine it is. Direct, linear but full of complexity. Not overtly sweet and sugary, it is full-bodied and has depth and class written all over it. Tropical fruits, kiwi fruits and some honey, the body is now very approachable with a lovely backbone. Long finish with notes of lychee and slates. Drink now …

Nose of cooked apricot, tropical fruit, and spices. Given the very degraded and elastic cork, and especially the very evolved color, I have some doubts about how the bottle was preserved. Very dense, even syrupy palate. Dominant notes of redcurrant and tropical fruit sprinkled with spices. It lacks a bit of freshness, it's even a bit heavy; I don't find the usual tension in the estate's Auslese. Intense finish, with cooked apricot and a very chalky length. Good, but I …

From 375ml. Breathtakingly good. Sweet and spicy botrytis hung on a firm and refreshing acidic spine. A prima ballerina couldn't be better balanced than this beauty. Could well be everlasting. Worthy of the goldkapsel hung like a medal around its neck.

Not bad. Not great. Very mellow. No acid. Has not developed the complexity one would hope for in an aged Riesling. Tastes like gourmet apple juice.

Decaturwinedude’s note captured this pretty well- not the usual prum electricity, a bit viscous and in need of more acidity, but still a good bottle of wine.

Wow. Just stupendous. Medium sweet with all youthful gloss integrated into the body of the wine. Wondeful texture. Depth and complexity for days. Drunk at a party but will serve next bottle in a quiet setting to allow more focus. Great stuff. (97)

Fairly extraordinary wine. Full bodied, medium sweet. Petrol and tropical fruits, gooseberries and grapefruit Backbone of acidity behind, providing structure and lift. Long and some complexity. Drinking beautifully but will improve for many years.

This was as fun as I remember it to be. This is Riesling in its finest form, peach, nectarine, lemon, good minerality, bright acidity balanced by just enough residual sugar to keep the acidity in check but not make it sweet. This is an exciting wine at the peak of its drinking window.

Rating for drinking now, with some more complexity this has 96+ potential. No detailed note made, but I remember this to be a bit less intense and sweet than the Bernkasteler Badstube from the same year, but otherwise being quite similar.

See my last note. Doing what Prum WS does. Being almost always excellent. Slightly restrained, not my fave vintage. Unctuous, but lingering acidity allows some lift off. On point and will hold. V. good.

Rich, vibrant yellow color. Little bit of garden herbs, sponti, hints of petrol nose. Uber-rich palate, that is coated with citrus flavors and a honeyed richness. Finishes with green apple-tartness amidst wisps of the acidity that is still hanging around. It leans bigger, more unctuous and lush. Delicious in its own way right now.

Prior bottle was 3 years and 9 months ago and this wine continues to show exceptionally well. Honey, clover, floral notes, spice qualities and peach on the nose. Medium bodied (8.5% ABV) with tart peach and apple upfront with a mix of white fruit qualities and slightly richer yellow fruit notes. Mid-body gains density and shows orange and pineapple, balanced by nicely tart citrus. The contrast between the two elements allow the honey qualities to come off as richness, rather …

Yellow-green; high intensity aromatics with lime, pear, peach, white fruit, a mineral/slate component; palate is medium bodied, white fleshy fruit throughout but backed by a high acid spine, a bit of petrol, low alcohol (8.5%), some sweetness but more in balance and refreshing than noticeable; medium length finish. Not the most complex Auslese riesling, but impeccable balance and very enjoyable on a warm March day. 93

typical riesling tropical fruit and garden hose with a touch of rosemary on the nose, all combining to an aroma of freshly washed clothes. sweet and seductive, with plenty of acidity to counterbalance and produce that signature sticky juiciness. not sparkly minerality, but almost. super long, pleasantly dry / sweet finish.

Very pale green gold colour with plenty of fine bubbles on pouring. Wonderful nose of lime, white peach, pear, lemon zest and passionfruit. The palate is fresh with baskets of fruit dominated by lime and passionfruit but balanced by a zesty acid spine and lovely grip. A wine still settling down with a million miles in front of it. JJ Prum - 2015 range tasting : Cassis and plum on the nose, with some herb and earth - this is quite unlike the other wines on show today and it certainly helped it stand out. Zingy acid profile that really punches through the rich fruit, there is also a savoury note as well that gives it an extra dimension. Intense aromas of peach, floral and orange on the nose. Between medium and full bodied (8.5% ABV) with tremendous depth and richness. A varied mix of orchard fruit upfront that's still densely packed at this stage with orange, pineapple and other tropical notes in the background. AP 17 07 at 7.5 pabv. From Riedel Riesling glass and Coravin: Almost pure gold, brilliant, transparent, perhaps a little spritz; sheeting but no tears. Lanolin, melted beeswax, apricot flowers, hints of malt and river air. A very '76 kind of entry but perhaps with soaring, persistent acidity keeping the high residua sugar in line, with a spring wildflower honey impression in the very pure botrytis note. Even small sip is palate-coating and has good texture. Not quite as lissome …

AP 17 07. Definitely wouldn't call this a pristine bottle. Capsule severely corroded and cork was projecting about a millimeter. But I saw this as an opportunity to have an amazing wine for absolutely no special occasion at all. Just as rich as the last time I had this back in June. Lovely hay-yellow colour with nose of petrol, dried peaches and apricots. Zero spritz. Initially tasted of fresh apple but with 1hr of air there are lovely honey entry notes and the taste is more of peach, apricot and bees wax followed by a cutting acidity that draws you back for another sip - despite the rich creamy sweetness. This isn't as viscous as I read in previous CT notes and I plan on enjoying it with savoury food/snacks at the …

AP 17 07. What an amazing wine! I completely agree with Fisch and Rayer's review that this is one of the best commercial bottlings out of this estate. The first day this was a little muted and sweet, but the second day open a certain sharpness and definition entered this wine. No petrol or aged notes whatsoever - only the golden color gave away the age of this wine. Crystal clear flavor definition, ripe, rank with pure botrytis. A monumental …

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2006 (Villa Behr (Wendlingen, Germany)) : Opened about 3+h before, not decanted. Clear, golden yellow color. Medium+ intense, developing nose with surprisingly fresh citrus notes, honey, acidity and without the Prüm typical “Sponti” stinker. Sweet, very good, vibrant acidity which gives the whole wine the tension I missed in the Hermannshöhle. Pulled this early as it was a leaker. Cork was very soft, soaked through, and eulage as about a quarter inch down from normal. Overall, still in good shape, but glad we pulled it.
