Pulled because of recent notes suggesting this was on a downward slide. Not for us. Consumed over two evenings, sealed with vacuum pump. Held up well with note from second night. This is lively and expressive. Juicy black cherry, dark raspberry, hints of soil, charcoal and cola. Tannins are fine and integrated but help counter balance the juicy fruit. Very enjoyable.

My bottle was exactly as BEEZ described. Really great California Sonoma Coast Pinot. Smooth as silk on the finish. Truly a wonderful pairing with Xmas dinner

Drink it now. This one seems on the far side of the bell curve. Still some life left, but trending towards jammy fruits dominated by tart cherries and plum. Maybe a bit of sweet hay on the nose with a touch of vanilla. Paired with chicken pot pie and roasted asparagus and it was a nice combo — didn’t overwhelm the dish and the tart berries complemented the sweeter flavors of the meal. But I don’t think this has much …

Drinking very well. Plush red berries with great balance. Not at all heavy or blousy. Enjoyable CA Pinot Noir.

Lovely pinot! Wonderful sour red cherries, floral, and earthy notes on the nose and palate with hints of orange peel with a long lingering sappy finish.

Pop and pour. Served in a Josephine stem. Nice ruby garnet color. Nose offers red berries, touch of pine needle and dried orane peel. Good bright fruit intro. There is a slight burnt orange peel note of bitterness on the midpalate. Enjoyable. Wine is starting to show its age, suggesting that the sweet spot may have been one or two years ago.

A dynamite Pinot. This bottle seemed a touch more fruit-forward than the bottle drunk last August (2024), though it.couldve been attributable to difference in temperature. The wine provides a sense of being considerably concentrated, full-bodied and intensely flavorful.

Long decant, slightly tired nose, definite cherry notes on finish. Sadly think 2017 was when platt started to struggle from lack of attention. It’s decent, but not a platt from 10 years earlier

This wine 🍷 was absolutely singing tonight. Perfectly balanced with notes of black cherry cola, spices, cranberry, and a balanced and beautiful finish. My only bottle and it made me wish I bought more.

As others have noted, the flavor profile is on the darker end of the (cherry) spectrum. This should continue to age well - while tasty now, it seems to have the stuffing to drink well until at least 2030. It was a decent pairing with grilled shrimp tacos.

Black cherry and black raspberry notes on the nose. A bit over medium bodied (14.4% ABV) with dark red cherry, moving to black cherry through the middle and supported by black raspberry. The fruit notes, especially through the middle showed very good expression. However, overall density was slightly less than some prior vintages from this vineyard site. Fine grained tannins along with minerals and earth on the back and through the finish. As other reviewers have noted, this is a …

Wow! Totally amazed that I was able to hang on to this last bottle for an additional 3 years and 6 months from the date I opened the previous one! This is the last bottle from this vintage. In August 2020, I had mentioned that this one seemed like it was ready to go but did benefit from bottle decanting. This baby was a rock star from the moment the cork was popped! No, not all 2017s are lame ducks. …

Undervalued and under-appreciated. This is a fantastic RM Pinot, strawberry/dark berry mix with mild spice box. Great mouthfeel and complexity, plenty of fruit to give. Medium to long finish. Moving towards 94.

Pretty tightly wound on opening so needs a minimum of 2 hrs air to smooth it out. Classic RRV/Sonoma Coast Pinot, black cherry spice and licorice flavors, elegant, not a bruiser, complex, loved it.

Decanted about an hour. Nice nose and usual pinot flavors (tobacco, cedar etc), just lacked a bit in depth - a bit on the mild side. I doubt the next bottle will change but will see what happens with the last one of these.

Excellent supple red fruit with a lightly candied edge (not a negative). Favors the brighter side of red - cranberry, watermelon, cassis but with that soft sweetness. I can see the orange peel some people mention. This is not a typical California Pinot Noir although clearly NOT Burgundy in any way. Just different. Not spicy. Not stemmy. Not earthy. Drinking well now. I see no reason to wait on this.

Tart red cherry on introduction, but the tartness also seems to have an orange tinge--very intriguing. Under the rear palate, it seems that all kinds of things are going on: suggestions of bubble gum (?) garrigue, baking spices--quite complex. A medium-bodied wine--as one might expect--with a very elegant mouthfeel.

This is one of the better Rivers-Marie pinots I have ever had. I drank it over two days (my plan was to stretch it out over 3 days, but it was so damn good that it didn't last that long!), with day 1 being light and lithe. Load of fresh strawberry, cherry, and just enough acid backbone to balance the fruit. By day 2, the depth and mid-palate had really filled out (or filled in?) and was a lot more …
