A riesling from a single vineyard, located in a steep South/South East facing slope of Heimbourg. According to the winemaker, this terroir has a very shallow topsoil over a limestone bedrock. The sun exposure can be tricky since it can over-ripe the vine and the residual sugar can be an issue. They say, 2019 vintage fermentation process was relatively easy since the wild yeasts left no residual sugar this time. It shows deep, rich herbal sweet notes with lime-edged fruit. …

Had at the same time as 2018, very different actually much fresher.

Made from biodynamic grapes farmed from single vineyard. At its youthful stage, therefore still slightly restrained. Pale golden colour. Intense and ripe aroma of melons, apricots, pineapple, honey, smoke, ripe apple, hint of bruised apple. Medium+ body, powerful, mineral and vibrant. Explosive high acidity makes it feel tight and bit austere, but still shows expressive fruitiness and stony, chalky minerality. Its fresh and tense, it will unfurl with intense and complexity and shine for 30 years from now.

Ultra-dry and austere. Grapefruit and stones. Not much petrol. This wine might amaze 20 years from now.
