Taster #9523
· Aug 12, 2022
Purchased for $20. This wine is tight and needs a few years in bottle. Even after decanting for an hour. Very perfumed nose with lots of pretty florals like bergamot and almost a hint of frangipani. Hints of baking spices. On the palate, juicy blueberry and blue plum with more baking spices. Firm tannins and juicy acidity. This has some legs to age a bit. Grade: A-

Purchased for $20. We enjoyed the 2017, and this one is no different. A lot of spice and smokiness up front. There's some nice darker fruit here, but the spice and smokiness are really at the forefront. Hints of licorice, tar and chocolate. There's actually a lot going on here. Not as much fruit, more earthy notes. I like it. Grade: A-
