Firing on all cylinders. Open and giving. Lush fruit with a lot of depth and concentration. The nose is intoxicating with spices, berries, minerality and so much class. The palate is an explosion of flavors and textural pleasure. Silky. CLB is making some iconic wines - just so much to like here

It’s been a consistent wine for me and after having had it multiple times three years ago fun to check in again. Dark cerise. Mature, red fruited, complex spicy sous bois nose which is quite youthfully concentrated and feminine. Palate seems structurally resolved, weightless, again a beautiful, feminine, youthful and primary yet seemingly mature, more Vosne or Chambolle-like red fruited, complex spice, lithe, lacy textured mineral wine. Popped and poured and in the zone at a surprisingly young age? Very nice indeed!

During an evening of various CLB Nuits 1er - this was very good together with its 17 sibling showing quite Vosnesque with precise and transparent red fruit, hallmark cherry notes, nice mineralite. Difficult to impossible to pick a favourit between this and the 17 for me. Overall the Cras had a different level of intensity if there was a theme between these 2 Nuits 1er Cru sites.

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY) : Late night, small pour, brief note. More here in complexity and nuance vs either vintage of Clos du Château, maybe less hedonistic fun than '15 Clos du Château, but I'd rather have this in my cellar. Or served with dinner.

Monopole wine from the winery. @comte_liger_belair_official did an incredible job in 2014. Warm supple berry and sous bois wrap into a beautiful fragrance. Silky yet weighty lush fruit and dry stem on the back end show a depth of flavor that's well balanced and charming but undeniably gulpable.

Third time with this wine in the space of a few months. Not that I am complaining. Consistent performance too and this bested a Vosne Colombiere 12 side by side. I do think that CLB is one of the few winemakers whose Nuits can equal Vosne wines of a similar level. A case of winemaking over terroir?

Having a chance to drink this again after a great showing a few weeks prior was a privilege. From pop and pour this was so gorgeous. Such a supple mouthfeel, long and intense fruit, that nicely judged oak. The guy just knows how to make wine (taste great).

Blind side by side Clos Chateau 07. For the table and for me probably the favourite CLB tasted this evening beating just out the 17 Laviere and Vosne Colombiere. The fact that this / both Nuits showed so well is another testament to the winemaking of Louis-Michel. At this early juncture we concluded winemaking trumps terroir. Friday Night... Great Burgundy Night (Asian Spice House - Buchanan MI) : Very enchanting balanced wine, showing black and red cherry with Vosne-esque spice. Good weight and depth, this showcases 2014’s charms perfectly. Good already now.

Super. Great fruit and whiff of spice. In the pure and slightly leaner style of ‘14 but opens beautifully with time in the glass. Can’t wait to revisit in 2-3 years.

Asian Spice (Chicago, IL) : Served blind. Was guessing Vosne 1er from a leaner year -- 2008 and 2013 came to mind. Good quality of seamless, spice-filled black cherry fruit with bright acidity. Rich and round but only medium concentration. A fun and well-made NSG 1er very much in the house style.

Asian Spice Night, Brûlées Edition (State Street Manor - Chicago IL) : Tasted double blind. Obviously from Burgundy, seemingly Vosne, I thought this from a fruit-centric but lighter vintage, so 2014 was right there. Excellent balance with red cherry and berry, nicely supported by Chinese five spice. Good density, better length, great balance. I thought it as likely a top notch Village wine as a good 1er Cru.

Domaine du Comte-Liger Belair smaking på Happolati (Oslo) : 2014 Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos des Grandes Vignes. Dypere nese enn de andre 14 for kvelden. Likevel fyrer den ikke på alle sylindre. Saftig frukt med god konsentrasjon. Slank her også. Fin kurve. Presis finish. God lengde med flotte fine tanniner. Pen 14. 91-92p

Dyp kirsebærrosa. Pnp. Åpen og forførende nese, mørk frukt perfekt sammenvevd med krydder og nydelig fatbruk. Utrolig konsentrert i munn uten et snev av vekt. Flyvende teppe. Krydet og sensuell frukt med finmaskede og raffinerte tanniner. Den sødmefulle frukten glir over i en lett sursøt finish med bra lengde.

My experience matches RC@UGHEY’s recent note. Needed 15 minutes of air to wake up. This is so, so good. The nose is really special and the palate is just as good. Good now and no shame in opening, but should have a long life ahead of it too. Bottle #1874 of 3520.

Another brilliant showing, and again one of the finer young NSG I've had (perhaps the finest). This is weighty and stylish, with intense layered dark fruits, and a texture of pure silk. Still drinking well, unlike the large number of shut down '14s. One can debate whether these wines are worth the market rate -- but there's no debating their quality.
