A gorgeous wine, one of the classiest Nero d'Avola wines I've come across.

Took about an hour or so to open up, but it went pretty well with pasta and salad. Past its prime but can still work in certain situations.

Unfortunately, this is beginning to taste really over-the-hill. A very surprising development from just six months ago...

Smooth drinking. At or near peak, may have had an off bottle as this lacked the usual structure. Nevertheless, went fantastic with pork.

Superb, even on a P&P out at a comfy food restaurant. In a great window and probably at peak.

This wine is in a prime drinking window right now. Fantastic QPR with great fruit and balance, though front-loaded. The nose blooms from across the room with musty cherries, lavender, candied raspberries, and hints of plums and vanilla spices. Great food wine and best …

This wine has really opened up over the past 10 months. Opened and decanted immediately before dinner of prime rib, potatoes, and mixed veggies. This was good to go from the start (unlike last time). Nose brings motor oil, Vaseline, cured meat, cherry cola, and a variety of subtle floral notes. The palate is full-bodied and round, bringing dark cherries, blackberries, chocolate espresso, green herbs, leather, tobacco, iron, bloody meat, and sweet, candied raspberries that dance along the tongue into …

Still very primary even after a 2-hour decant. Muted nose of chocolate raspberries, tobacco, and saddle. Palate follows with dark mocha cherries, gravel, and fruit punch. Finish is very tight but this has tremendous potential. Will update in years ahead.

Very nice once it opens up (give it an hour). Nose and palate of dark berries with good acidity at the finish and moderate tannins.
