Deep ruby red. A bit mute on the nose with raw cocoa, almost bitter with some dusty elements. Moderate acidity and tannins with a medium body. Some port-like characteristics but mainly just stewed berries, raisinets and cocoa. Semi-dry medium length finish. Drink till 2020.

A ton of dark black fruit explodes on the palete, richness and a slight tart sweetness. The name "Last Straw" refers to the making of straw wine, the practice of drying grapes on straw to concentrate the juice and flavors before fermentation. In our case, the 2014 drought caused Zinfandel grapes to dry up or "raisin" on the vine. Left Bend gave these grapes another chance, thus the name “Last Straw”.
