Megeve, 2nd day of the year. Very light Color, very bubbly. Not a very pronounced nose - citrus, pear, red apple, hay, salinity. Med acidity, Med body, Med alcohol, Med flavour intensity and Med finish. Very fresh, nice citrus, green apple, great salinity, hay. Perfect apero Champaign, opens the appetite. Nice.

Grand Cru Selections Tasting (Eventi Hotel - New York NY) : Walkaround tasting with producers. 2019 base with reserve. I am rarely a fan of Brut Nature, but the underlying fruit richness made this work, even if not my preferred style.

Digits ending with LE21, perhaps 2021 base with 50% reserve, 50% C, 40% M, 10% PN, disgorged March 2024, 2g/l, rich with good acidity on the palate. A good casual champagne to enjoy

This light golden Champagne is from "lot 2017," with half of the cuvée from that vintage and the remainder comprised of wine from reserve vintages. This is my best experience with this producer, drunk in a Zalto Universal, a very delicious nose, the prolonged elevage shines through, taste is balanced and seductive, a true pearl.

My first champagne of 2024! 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier and 10% Pinot Noir mainly from the 2017 harvest but with 50% reserve wines. About a third aged in barrel and it has spent 5 years on the lees before being disgorged at the end of 2022 with zero dosage. Richly textured, mix of berries and citrus. Great contrast between rich lees brioche flavours and the bone dry crisp fruit.

A nice solid note of cream on the nose. Wood influences give this a nice frame though I'm not sure the fruit really fills it in all the way. Quite drying at the finish. Of course you keep wondering if a bit of dosage would really complete this. Its a real nice sparkling wine but at Champagne prices I expect a Champagne experience.

Nose is bright and bready. Green apple and pear - palate is very nice and Bready and sweet. Good apple fruit. Assertive wide mousse. More tart on finish. With some lemon.

South Africa in Hampshire (Winchester) : Low dosage - 2g - but not obviously "grower" or "extra brut". Super engaging nose - someone said intriguing. Really good stuff - I will look for this again in future.

Unknown disgorgement. Light yellow. Herbal, difficult to capture aroma I often get from high Meunier Champagnes. This is unappealing to me, but it has nice creamy mouthfeel and brioche, and is completely dry. Good.

In the refrigerator for 2 days and then allowed to warm for 30 minutes before drinking. I found the flavor improved as the wine warmed and it was still quite good when all of the chill was gone. Not much at first and after an hour or two very chalky, long finish with yeast and apple/pear notes. A delightful nose on this; reminds me of a premier cru chablis with bubbles. I think this will really improve with age and soften a bit; give it a few years. Great QPR (2020 disgorgement)

DG 10/2018; Base 2013 This one was a little disappointment. We expected a little bit more charm due to the extended ageing 'sur lattes’, but it was quite simple and austere. Quite an interesting Champagne. Starting off with quite rich aromas of baked yellow apples. Slightly funky with something apple cider-like aromas. Pale lemon green in the glass. Pure aromatics that you would expect from a terroir-driven grower Champagne - green apple, crushed oysters, lemon juice, lime zest, green mango. Sharp on the first sip, but mellows out with some waiting time in the glass. Super-tasty with light alcohol and fine mousse. Long, nutty-chalky finish. Value for money right here.

Crisp and lean with citrus, minerals, and something almost like bitter greens. Very clean and a good deal for the price.

A fresh nose of green apple and chalk. The apple theme continues onto the palate and it is bone dry, with a lithe, almost lean feel. It tastes of slate on the finish and is refreshing.

2019 MW Champagne Tasting, nose of apple, apple tart, and earth/minerals, same on the palate, medium/big body, crisp, nice, rich, lovely, almost elegant, almost mouth filling, and a long finish.

A great example of quality grower champagne. Linear and intense while pleasant and playful on the palate. Would gladly keep this for a couple of years to develop.

Fruity, fresh, vibrant, danser in the sun!

Red bruised apples, citrus and chalky minerality with hints of bread, cherries, nuts and flowers. Base vintage 2012.

Crisp and clean, almost apple cider-like. Pretty linear with a hint of nuttiness emerging as it warmed up, but stayed consistent otherwise. Finding it hard to fault this.

Champagne Jean-Marc Sélèque Visit with Vintage '59 (Pierry) : Brief tasting note, dinner at the winery. As expected being zero dosage, showing more dry than the 7 Villages. Green apple and lemon flavors dominate. July 2018 disgorgement. 2013 was a very cold vintage, an October harvest this year.

Quite dry with citrus, green apple, lemon verbena, chalk, and candied ginger notes. Lovely fine mousse, energetic and fresh.

Simple and tasty, with crabapple, salted Granny Smith apple, and light bready notes throughout. Fresh and crisp, with ample acidity.
