Italian Tasting with Andy Roediger (Stellenbosch) : (Tasted Blind): Deep garnet with a bouquet that shows slight oxidisation before blowing off to reveal tertiary fruits, saddle leather, and truffle. Sweet fruit on entry with a lively acidity gives a sweet-sour tang despite feeling a little flabby in the mid-palate. While the fruit shows complexity, a touch of VA unbalances the wine, slightly accented by the generous alcohol (13.5%). Medium finish. 100% Sangiovese.
