Current release? Only 13 euro in Grenada. Still quite primary but not this is a great wine. Seems to fall foul of the over-ripeness that plagued Australian grenache and shiraz 10 years ago and from the 20-odd Spanish reds I've had over the past 2 weeks they are certainly not the only offender. Some stink, mazipan dead fruit, aniseed and heat back palate. Good length. Won't have a problem seeing out a decade.

Took a chance on the most expensive (but still only €10) DO Madrid wine at a Carrefour near Barajas airport... and it turned out to be absolutely wonderful. Very ripe grenache in something of an international style, but with a rich, savory edge to the dark cherry grenache flavor and perfectly judged, toasty French oak in the background. Excellent QPR and a real joy to drink.
