Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Red fruits on the nose with light oak, spices and dark chocolates. Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate with raspberries, cherries, spices, light oak and dark chocolate. Short finish with soft tannins and tart pomegranates. Needs 90 minutes of airtime to open up and show the nose. This is a tasty Single Vineyard Dolcetto from Piedmont, Italy. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with mild complexity. Showing red fruits, light wood, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, espresso and peppercorn. This 5 year old is well balanced, spicy and easy drinking. Good by itself as a sipping wine. Grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Unfiltered. 14% alcohol by volume. 89 points. $20.
