Solid. Tasted after a 1996 Ravenswood Sangiacomo merlot, which was wonderful, the Estancia had notes of mocha and coffee on the nose. Firm tannins, great “BDX” style from the blend. Beautiful style, easy drinking. Wonderful. From a magnum. Ok

One of my favorite go to reds. Well balanced, ripe red and black fruits. The 2011 was excellent tonight, will still age a bit but would recommend drinking soon.

Dark red, dark fruit on the nose. Well integrated tannins but I thought it was a bit bright. A little high on the acidity. Smooth but the finish was a bit short but still quite good. Day 2 it smoothed out a bit and it was more in balance. Pretty decent glass of red and I'd buy it again.

Pretty spicy dark fruit flavor... Fairly complex, with varying flavors in the mid-tongue, but.. surprisingly, not a stellar finish. Mid-light tannins... noticeable, but not overpowering. For the price, it's a very drinkable wine.... paired nicely with a steak.

Dark garnet color. Heavy legs. Blackberry preserves on the nose. Cinnamon and blackberry, spice on mid palate. Quick finish, or would've scored higher. Great with spicy chicken dish.

The nose is not as attractive as the taste of this 2011. The addition of Merlot and Petite Verdot works well for the meritage to compensate for a less than stellar vintage. Score [ 50 + 5 + 11 + 15 + 7] = 88.

Paired well with Venison Stew. Still a bit young I think but quite enjoyable. Oak is still very strong.
