Smells of graphite, blueberries, vanilla, and spice. Medium bodied and a little viscous, there is acid and a hint of alcohol up front, with blueberries, spice, and a mildly bitter woodsy note that finishes dry and mildly tannic. I appreciate that the wine is not overly fruited, and I don't even mind a simpler wine's virtues, but the perception of alcohol just diminishes my enjoyment of this wine tonight. (85 for my point loving friends)

Tasty blue/dark fruit, eucalyptus, tobacco, and something savory or almost meaty on the nose. Medium body and well-balanced in the mouth. Slightly round on the finish. I'm guessing this is at or near its peak.

Drinking great. Nice merlot/cab blend. Great even without food.

Not what we were wanting. Kind of sad that we have two more bottles. Very weird on the mid-palette. Not what I have come to expect from Waters. Menthol with a strange acerbic note... and lots of flat fruit.

Nice nose; Good rich fruit profile but a bit generic

Pretty unremarkable, but not bad by any stretch. It was mono-dimensional WA red dominated by muddled fruit. Low Acidity, lean structure.

Nice wine and good QPR. Opens up after 20 minutes or so to reveal dark fruits, smokiness, and smooth finish.

Good QPR. Opened up nicely after about 40 minutes in the glass. Juicy fruits integrated with vegetal and forest nuances. Medium finish but that improves the longer it is open as well.

Pretty solid right out of the bottle. More bite than expected, and super consistent from a Waters perspective.

Okay nose. Red fruit. Spice. A touch of funk and forest floor. One dimensional but still tasty.

Nice effort here in this blend from Waters. Great value. Smooth and silky with some funk on the nose. Black and red nose, creosote. Medium bodied, awkward midpalate transition and a little short on the finish. Easy drinker.

Light nose, with pretty, red cherry. On the palate, it's got ripe black cherry, blackberry and plum with moderated tannins, good acid and a lovely floral character. Nice, easy drinking, light bodied. Tasty and refreshing for a red blend.

Pacific Northwest Tasting Trip, Day 4; 4/4/2012-4/12/2012 (Milton-Freewater, OR & Walla Walla, WA, and Waitsburg, WA) : Small taste at the winery. Nose of black raspberry, light earth, mint. Palate of mixed raspberry, baking spices, plums, and pepper. Finish was average.

This wine was just ok, not good, not bad. We really enjoy most Waters wines and expected more.

Color: Deep Red Nose: Upfront Plum, with spice and leather Taste: Blackberry, Plum, black currant with vanilla This was a very enjoyable blend. Easy to sip, yet complex enough to ponder. The finish is soft and smooth, a small tannic finish with almost a sweet floral taste.

Tasting Room 9/24: There's just something about Waters' wines that I really enjoy and the '09 Interlude is no different. Typical Cab & Merlot flavors of currant and blackberries are prevalent on the nose, but with a little earthiness. Similar tastes on the palate and even some brighter fruits too. Well balanced.

Fruity nose with a lot of blueberries and blackberries, some cassis. The palate was a little tight, not too much fruit but had a slight earthern hint, some slate. Not too tannic, medium finish.

Decanted about 5 hours. Rich dark fruit and milk chocolate on the nose, along with tobacco and spice, and a little earth at the end. More earthy and chocolatey on the palate, with a heavy dose of rich cream underneath. The dark fruit comes on in the middle, and it finishes with some nice spice. A little too much oak for my taste, but fairly well made, nonetheless.
