Domaine Sainte-Croix Vin de Pays d'Oc La Bergerie

Dry. Not much going on. Tastes like something given out at an art opening.

A rather pretty color for a $5 wine. The nose is crazy. Pine cone, hay, gasoline, blueberry, prune, grass, tar, leather, aloe, mint, licorice, some floral notes. A novice could really gain some confidence from this nose. The aromas alone are worth five bucks. On the palate, it's fruit forward and hits a little aspartame pack, but not too bad. The fruit actually lasts for quite a while, and the mouthfeel is pleasant. It's kind of a "manufactured" flavor, but …

Very sad wine very sweet but this wine will not go to waste. It will make a great sangria.

Surprisingly intense cherry, plum, and cassis with solid structure carrying the flavors through the finish. Initially a clunky wood taste suggesting the likelihood of oak chips, but this was eliminated with a run through the Vintiuri, after which I noticed a bit of licorice.
