Nut paste and caramel, dried pineapple, white peach and melon. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and lively. Impressive persistence. Fresh finish.

Really enjoyed this with grilled Lingcod. Intensely floral. Viscous but with great cut to keep it lively. Complex; different nuances showing throughout the meal.

Fascinating almost hypnotic blend of ever-changing flavors. Rich and lush but filled with a fruit basket of flavors. Not for everyone but surprisingly and confounding in every way. Friends kept asking for more bit couldn't explain why.

Very powerful aromas, like lychee fruit macerated overnight in Sauternes. This smells every bit as viscous as it looks, and it could pass for a desert wine in aroma if smelled blind. This is also coupled with a sweet mushroom and tree bark scent. It all smells quite fantastic. Palate is equally intense, showing a deep viscous notion, burning acids despite the massive, viscous body. Intense and rich, with a little schizophrenic feeling as I'm not quite sure where it's …

Opened poured and tasted. Could not decide what to make of it. Gave it time and finally recorked for the next day. Day 2 it starts out beautifully but then ends to sharp on the finish. Clearly it needs time and air.

Never quite lived up to the Garagiste hype, but then again, what does? I'd say this wine turned out to be pretty complex and enjoyable but never exhibited much balance and seemed a bit oxidized and overly alcoholic. A curiosity.

A bit better than my last sample. Big, waxy, viscous and peachy and citric. Showing better balance, a bit more fruit and a bit less alcohol. Still... lacks the depth and complexity I would expect for about $30.

I cannot believe how different this bottle was from the last. The last one was flabby and viscous and hot with almost none of the mineral Jon was emphasizing. This wine, which I drank cooler intentionally, was crisp and had a nice tartness to accompany some of the richness and a bit of mineral in the background. It was quite delicious and while not as amazing as the initial prose from Jon, it was damn good wine.

Interesting, for some of the reasons that others say they were put off. (Viscous, for example.) Not compelling, though, at least not yet.

Another disappointing bottle. Fairly void of flavor, perhaps some peach and citrus hints. An oily, waxy, lanolin texture, perhaps from the elevated alcohol? Quite drinkable, but quite boring and lacks personality.

I'm going to agree with those who found this disappointing. I loved the Naick 6, but this wine is hollow in the middle, not as stony, and showing its alcohol. Oh well?

I have *loved* the previous couple vintages of this wine although this isn't doing it for me. As much sulfur as fruit on the nose, a flabby entry with poor acid integration on the finish. Hot, hot, hot. I can just sneak under the sulfur and barely get to that ripe melon/pear that has made this one my favorite wines, but then get whacked by the alcohol and a bit of phenolic character as well. But 15 seconds later I've …

A bit disappointing. No obvious flaws, but this just seemed a bit simple and ungiving. An oily texture, but not much flavor. If searching, one can find subtle white peaches and crushed stones. Good acidity. Some heat is noticable. Fairly disappointing at $30. Perhaps this needs cellaring?

Garigiste Test Drive - Fall 2011 (With Winex and WB add-ons) : In general, I agree with Ron's notes on this wine. On the nose, nice fruit but slightly overwhelmed by a sulfur funk. On the palate, again nice fruit. But this time, slightly overwhelmed by a heat that I'd attribute to the 15% alcohol. I typically like to enjoy white wines for their refreshing character, and this bottle lacks any of that. At present, it is out of balance, …

Viscous and seemed a bit hot at 15% alcohol. Didn't pick up all the complexity and wonder from Jon's tasting notes. I'm going to let this sit for another couple of years.
