Goodfellow Family Cellars Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge

Like many Goodfellow’s it took a little bit to open up. Once open very expressive nose of red fruit. I especially love Goodfellow wines in warm vintages for their restraint and this is doesn’t disappoint. Great mouth feel, weight and tension. One surprise was the chewy tannins. I don’t recall this as a characteristic of the vintage or Marcus’ wines. Very intersting. Still had a long juicy finish along side the tannins. Bright and dark cherry with orange make up …

Bright red cherry fruit with good concentration but no overt sweetness, nicely structured fine tannins providing some drying grip, plenty of acidity. Delicious in a restrained style. Excellent QPR.

Drank the other night. Delicious, but became muted with a couple hours of air. Was fantastic and vibrant right out of the bottle, fruit forward but with a distinct undercurrent of herbs, leaves, dirt, general Pinot awesomeness. Shut down a bit with a decent but was still delicious with with roast chicken. After even more time, this opened up again grandly. Pure, expressive, and delicious. Superior quality for the price. It can evolve for quite a while.

Just-ripe cherry-raspberryish fruit, pungent/wild, vinous rather than fruity yet fresh/vibrant. Lean, tart, refreshing, tasty, characterful, highly drinkable, good stuff. Day 2: Even better, with still more freshness/vibrancy.

Quick trade tasting note - Tart and tangy fruit, crunchy berries, raspberries, peat moss with great acidic structure.
