As always, fantastic value Shiraz from Wynns. Perfect condition.

2013 vintage

Dark ruby colour with a dirty hue, strong aroma of dust, black berry, cedar, light smoke. Medium to high acidity, on the palate blackberry, black cherry. Powdery grippy tannin. Medium plus body, long finish, sweet at the end. Still young.

Lovely nose of cassis, blackberry, tobacco and light whiff of menthol. Flavours match the nose. Tannins have softened slightly. Tasty fruit that has dried through the mid palate, affecting the length, which I had hoped to be longer and smoother. Could be at it’s peak, but as it becomes tertiary it might sweeten a little so will leave my last bottle as an experiment to see if i develop regret for drinking too early

Has improved since my previous note. More subdued fruit up front, with a much better balance leading into the mid and finish. Optimal drinking now for me. However was hoping for better from this wine.

Needed a longer time in the decanter than the 1 hour. Still very closed with complex red fruits, some chocolate oak and fine drying tannin. Will only improve from here.

With reversed seared T-bone smoked. Plenty of promise up front, but a bit lacking in the mid. Eucalypt and tobacco in the mid with a dry lingering finish. Would give this a few more years.

I put one of these in my Granson’s 6 pack to be opened in another 9 years when he’s 18. Currently he has no interest in wine so it’s looking good for me. I had one over the last 2 nights to see how it’s going. Happy to say that it is developing nicely. Juicy, smooth but some way to go. Still some tannins to settle down but definitely drinking better on the second night. I will open another one …

Nice minerality on the bouquet with ripe blackcurrant, smoked spices, dried meat and eucalyptus. Good depth and smokiness on the rich and fresh palate. Almost full-bodied structure which is firmed but rounded at the edges. Transition to finish is clean and somewhat short. Ready to drink now without decanting.

10012023 - purplish to ruby pour with rather heavy legs. Nose: plum, cherry, some blueberry jam, enough eucalyptus and mint, throw is notes of cocoa beans and some dried sage - superbly unique. Palate: slightly lacking here. Great entry but lacks the density to follow through with the beautiful nose. Good acidity and mouthfeel - just felt the depth and flavors from the fruit a little flat. Would love to approach the same vintage in 2-3 yrs time

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle.

Sadly this is my last bottle which we polished off with great delight. It’s interesting that we tasted a 2019 during the week and were a bit underwhelmed but it was up against Michael and John Riddoch. It shows that a little patience will deliver a beautiful wine.

Dark plum red, nose of dark berries. Juicy plush mulberry and blackberry, a cornucopia of beautiful dark berry fruit, silky velvety mouth feel, super fine tannins, nuisances of liquorice, vanilla oak, great length, super well integrated wine, years left on this one. Delicious

A strikingly deep dark purple, with ruby just beginning to appear at the very edge of the rim. A light intensity nose, consisting of red and blue fruits coupled with a floral violet like aroma. The floral note flows through onto the medium bodied palate, with darker plum flavours joining the red fruits. It's mildly spicy, and lightly peppery with medium tannin and vanillin oak. Finishes with plenty of length to its bright plummy fruit, acidity, and drying tannins.Still young …

Black fruits and touch of Coonawarra shiraz jubiness. Medium weight, with depth and subtlety. Gentle scaffolding, though that will read as nonsense in the morning. Drunk with curry at GGCCC so can’t be more precise on the particulars. 90 or 91.

Aeration + 1-2hr decant & this opened up really nicely. Even better on day 2. Agree it’s not as good as the 13 cab sav but both look to have a long life ahead.
