Bodega Weinert Cabernet Franc

Tasting with some wine geeks (@Private location, Frankfurt) : Glass: Gabriel Standard This was the last wine of the night and I was already a bit boozed up. With its 15,5% abv it was the complete opposite style of the other elegant wines we had this night. Certainly very good, but not in the same league as the other wines of tonight. So no “official” rating, but I would guess it around 91.

Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah This wine is not for sale from Weinert itself. They experimented with CabFranc, but were not satisfied. Luckily the guys from Casa Vinos Argentions in Berne discovered this little treasure and bought the whole barrel :) Wonderful deep, purple ruby color, almost black. Medium+ intense, fully developed nose with a whole bunch of aromas: leather, smoke, dark fruit, spicy oak. Great! Dry, high alcohol, perfectly buffered by the medium+ acidity. Present, silky fine-grained tannin, full bodied. …

12.10.2013 1. half of the bottle: Deep purple Color, very complex nose of leather, tobacco, some fleshly notes, honey. The complexitiy continues on the palate: powerful but round and smooth tanins good acidity, dark red fruits, tobacco, leather, Long finish. Lovely wine!
