Domaine des Moirots Givry 1er Cru

Had burgers tonight so ... I opened a bottle. Tart red fruits, a bit of spice and florals. This is somewhat sour on the palate - sour cherry and unripe strawberry. Some spice and florals kick in to make this a bit more interesting, but right now it lacks concentration and feels like it lacks ripeness. I'll check in again tomorrow but this is disappointing. Didn't get to spend much time on this but it had glimpses of beauty but seemed to close up tight. Won't try another for 2-3 years i think.

Decided to check in on this: bottle #2 from a case. Lovely as I remembered it. Nose of crunchy red fruits: red cherry, black cherry, raspberry and a bit of watermelon. Also some nice florals, green herbals, and a bit of minerality. What drives this is the crunchiness of the fruit combined with the silky and a bit creamy robe. Beautiful fruit on the nose: strawberry and black raspberry, dark cherry, some spice, sauvage, and a touch of oak, stewy and meaty/tomato. The palate is tart and sweet, stems, fine tannins - puckery. good acid. I preferred the 1er Cru by a bit. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-16.5+/20.

Grand Sich excess : Fantastic quality for a village wine - served blind, I wondered if this was the 1er cru. Lots of bright red fruit, some black cherry, and gentle floral and faintly oaky accents, with the oak integrating quickly into the wine with air, and a very polished, light palate presence. There's definitely more power and intensity here than in the '13 Givry, but it still carries itself with great finesse and it's a lovely wine to drink …

I really want to write a fake bad note on this wine because it's so damn good and I want to keep others from buying it so that I can have the entire production all to myself, but I like to think I've slightly more integrity than that.
