Popped and poured, drank over the past 2 nights at home. Aromas of citrus and a bit of petrol on the nose. Pretty yellow/gold color Medium body and somewhat round, good acidity, a bit sweeter than I expected. I would've preferred more minerality in the mix here. Lots of lime here.

Nose is a little tight but opened up with some air in the bottle. The palate makes up for the diminished aroma. Explosion of honeyed tropical fruit. Nice balance, maybe a little light on acidity but overall a wonderful texture.

Starting to hit that maturity plateau with some lemon perl and a hint of petrol. Good texture and with the sweetness starting to diminish a bit, this is in a good place right now.

Opened for 24 hours. Incredibly muted on the nose... Palate entry is really luscious, soft and round... elegant and pretty. The texture is quite incredible and smooth. Nice acidity, and moderate sweetness... but really not too much doing in the way of flavor complexity. Really not sure if this is showing this way due to the 24 hours of air or not, so I'll withhold a score. It's very nice, but it's just very simple and muted and mostly about …

AP 13 - Has shed its primary fruit and is now showing a touch of petrol on the nose. Pleasant but perhaps a touch too sweet without the minerality to back it up - yet still enjoyable.

Considerably better than the bottle 4 years ago. It was similarly lower in acidity than I would have liked, but it was better balanced and less flabby. It also was delicious and paired nicely with dim sum.

Orchard fruit, honeysuckle, kaffir leaf, and slate on the nose. It's honeyed and rich on the palate with excellent RS/ acid balance and a sense of slate. This has depth and breadth while remaining focused. It's drinking well, but it feels like more might be to come. Outstanding alone and better with with spicy Panang curry.

Pale gold color. The nose is effusive, with notes of blood orange and cherry. The palate is medium+ in weight and has a lot of fruit density left. This is fuller and sweeter than some '05 Mosel Sptlesen I've tried recently, and it seems a little lower in acidity as well. The palate flavors are well delineated, with notes of peach, tangerine, and dried pineapple. Lingering finish with some mineral notes too. This is an impressive wine which is drinking …

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over approx. 1.5 hours -- NOSE: a bit reserved; moderate petrol; interesting/unusual note of honey-roasted peanuts. BODY: golden yellow color; no spritz; medium-full bodied. TASTE: banana chips; good acidity (it doesn't stick-out); hint of coconut; a bit honeyed; excellent, and appears to be in its youthful prime. Drink or Hold.

Light lemon color. Very pretty on the nose with notes of stone fruit, whipped cream, and lemon zest. Full bodied and semi sweet on the palate, needs a touch more acidity to really round it out.

Previous tasters were on the mark about this wine being flabby. Nice flavors, good depth but I yearned for lift and verve.

I've loved this wine in the past, but this was a disappointing bottle - just came across one-note and simple in contrast to the '11, without any of the cut and focus I remember it showing in the past.

Tasted alongside the 2011. This was decidedly fatter and riper. Good, but missing some raciness and tension. Perhaps it's in some sort of dumb phase.

Salil does Chicago 3; 4/6/2017-4/8/2017 (Chicago, IL) : #13-06, 8% abv. Surprisingly, I found this even softer than the already-soft 2011, although that's not to say this wasn't good. It is. The fruit here shows a bit more towards the yellow spectrum, and there are some nascent secondary characteristics developing here. I would have liked more acidic cut on this.

Opened for the Clasico. This was crazy delicious. Salil and Billigan's notes are spot on as usual. I generally agree with IP too, but I didn't find this wine to have an austere bone in its body. A spatlese que va pa' auselese, as they might say in Jerez. This is the first bottle of this I've had with more than a year or two of age on it, and while this has a very long life ahead of it, …

I've had this a few times in the past and it's always been fantastic, but come across more like an Auslese. Tonight this felt like a Sptlese - the fruit certainly feels a bit leaner, but it still has the intensity and brightness that made it so compelling in the past. Lots of ripe white cherry, apple, and citrus fruit flavours augmented with slate, honey, and floral and sponti yeast funk, and powerful acidity beneath balancing the sweetness. Fantastic wine, …

Quite the transition from the Prum, with elegant aromatics of flowers, apples, and pears. On the palate, lemon, lime, and green apple zest, with zingy, piercing acidity, a bit of chalkiness, florals, and loads of minerality. Very lean and mineral-driven. The finish is long, acidic, and somewhat austere. Very very good.

So delicious it's almost unfair. A wild array of tropical fruits, especially mango and coconut cream, on the nose. Lush and creamy mouthfeel, with a nice flavor of candied lemon peel to at least give the illusion of acidity. Was a wonderful pairing with my wife's coconut chicken curry.

These 2005 spats are really great. A really lovely blend of tropical and floral aromas and rich fruit on the palate, but with a surprising dollop of acidic zip to give the wine freshness and verve. Absolutely beautiful way to take the best qualities of the vintage, while preserving the hallmark minerality and tension of truly great riesling.

Holding up nicely - still quite primary. Nice tingle of acidty. Not too tropical or sweet.

Amazing balance! A medium frame of rich fruit (green apple zest, pears, lemon) and a meadow of flowers. Silky, with excellent acidity. Just excellent.

Absolutely thrilling Sptlese. The fruit's slimmed down just a touch since release, it's still quite ripe and intense on the palate with plenty of rich apple, citrus and white cherry fruit tinged with flowers, minerals and still some sponti yeast funk, but it feels lean and razor sharp with remarkable acidity providing phenomenal cut and vibrancy. Impeccably balanced, long and all too easy to drink now, yet the balance and structure suggest lots of time ahead for this.

Beautifully balanced with bright acidity, and an elegant mouthfeel. Shows good depth of flavor (apples, pear, honey) and a lower intensity, graceful finish. Brought by the owner of the wine cellar club, so I'm guessing this was a perfectly stored bottle. Served chilled and consumed within the first couple of hours after opening. In a great place right now.

This is finally starting to show what it has. I got some sulphur when I opened it, but not the blast it showed on release, when it obliterated everything. After double-decanting, and then waiting several hours, it opened nicely. It is, however, still dominated by its sugar. So it's no crime to try one, but it has a great deal of room to develop.
