Palacio Fefinanes, Rias Baixas, Albarino III Ano

Just wine. Gave it a long chance to improve.

A year since we had this last and continues to perform very well and proves to be a very versatile wine. It has since gone softer, more polished and less firm on the palate but very pretty still, very mineral and well behaved. Solid 90-91 once again

Medium yellow-green gold colour. Nose of peach stone, fresh almonds and a touch of warm camomile flowers. Palate is very crisp minerality and acidity with fresh grapefruit and fresh sweetcorn on the finish. A surprisingly 'weighty' heady and reverberant finish for a quite light wine (12.5% alcohol). This was the penultimate bottle of a case bought in 2016 that has provided consistent and growing pleasure. The wine still has several years ahead of it. Great stuff and a super example …

Second bottle of four, unlike #1 this one was in fine condition. Unusual but recognisable Albariño in which you can taste the added aging at the winery. Usual mineral, fresh acidity found in Albarino but with deeper, more refined and interesting palate bringing out bay leaf, lemongrass and more length. Low alcohol.

A very solid expression of the grape with all the all the hallmarks, good acidity, good citrus freshness and with an extra edge of depth and complexity. Solid once again and ageing very nicely

This is the first bottle I opened of four in my cellar. Very disappointing given the rave reviews. It had mild oxidization, excessive acidity and no complexity or finish to it altogether. Any €5 bottle of Albarino would outshine this. Hope this bottle was flawed and the other three are better.

Very solid once again. Lovely polished acidity and tension, good fruit overly and minerality. Very solid wine. 91

A very clean, mineral, tight expression of albarino. Green fruits, stone fruit feel, linear with a lot of tension. a very solid wine and the only criticism we are offering is it could have used a touch more length and the acidity could have been a touch more polished. Still very solid 91 for now

A crisply acidic Albariño (as you would expect). Lemons, honey, minerals and a fat(ish) mouthfeel. It's really rather lovely, and at 12.5% alcohol you can quaff away. Its really rather nice - seems to come from a limited production (630 cases approximately) though I've had no issues getting hold of any via the very excellent EnterWine company in Barcelona (they deserve the plug).

Cor amarela muito brilhante, fruta madura, algo de especies, complexo, e altamente saboroso. Acidez na sua perfeicao, equilibrado. Um dos melhores Alvarinhos no mercado. Acompanhou Raclete maravilhosamente.
