Domaine Latour-Giraud Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes

Dark fruit, lite incense and notes of paper and glue. Fruit seems to ripen with time open. *4th night strong maraschino cherries on the nose. Drinking well.

Cork in better shape than previous bottle. Deep intense floral nose with hints of spices and dark forest fruits. Structured wine with firm tannins at first and dark forest fruits revealling afterwards. Good length. Very good now but can keep for another two to three years.

Bright translucent ruby color with only slight clear rim; a “leggy”, viscous beauty with rich crunchy red fruit. The nose was only briefly reticent, quickly opening to red and black raspberry, red cherry cough drop and violet notes. Firm acidity, touch of ETOH and decent length. Just a tad dry. Closed at opening. Opens after one hour of decanting. Shy nose with sandalwood, earth, spicey tones. Medium plus bodied, firm tannins good length. Good now but might improve with a couple of years cellaring

Initial nose of rotten eggs wears off to reveal warm, spicy cherry notes. Effusive nose pegs Volnay. Quite good.
