Decant for 2 hours. Bright ruby red color with medium depth. Vanilla and cherry on the nose. Smooth like all Runquist wines. The vanilla and cherry continues on the palate. Sour cherry on the approach, transforming to almost a sweetness by the end. Very nice balance. Tannins are wonderfully full and complete. Lighter to medium body. Very enjoyable with a rich carbonara dinner. A very well done Sangiovese.

My family and I are fans of the Runquist Cooper Barberas, so I was anxious to try the reserve version that is made from the best 8 barrels. I brought it to dinner at Lulou's in Reno to offer a lighter bodied alternative to the 2 cabs I also brought. I was not disappointed. Well.......I've really been anxious to try this wine, as I had a good time imagining the vanilla and fruitiness of Runquist wines with the floral, brightness and lightness of a good pinot noir. Add to that a little smokiness on the back end and I am not disappointed. Light to medium body with a lot of flavor complexity, but a pretty simple mouthfeel.
