Excellent example of the elegance and complexity of aged champagne. Nutty, brioche with just a hint of citrus. Bubbles lasted an hour in the glass. This one aged in optimal conditions. A beauty. Drink now.

Little more sour fruit. Lemon, sour apple. Good but I am not smitten.

Terry Thiese Champagne Portfolio Tasting (Pops for Champagne, Chicago IL) : Where I found the Fins Lieuxs expressive and lifted, this just comes off slightly disjointed. There is good complexity with tones of roasted nuts, red apples, meyer lemons, orange peels, nectarines, strawberries, mineral notes, white flowers, biscuits, and toast. But, all of those tones feel like they are all in a room having conversations with their lonesomes rather than working together in harmony. The Medium bodied feel is well …

Skurnik Tasting (Prince George Ballroom in NYC) : The star of the bunch although also a bit pricier than some of the others. This was much too young to really be drinking but I like the stuffing. There's def some good acidity there but also a real softness to the bubbles which I appreciate. Some of the spice of the PN. A delicate style champagne. Very good. Will seek out.

Terry Theise Grower Champagne Tasting (Plum Market - Chicago IL) : Tasting, brief note. Very much dominated by its Extra Brut character. Not my preferred style.

Terry Theise Grower Champagne Tasting (Chicago, IL) : In contrast to the rose which I loved, I found that this wine came across a little thin and acidic. Probably partially a function of the vintage and partially a function of having all these high-acid wines together. This did seem to have the requisite density to benefit from age.

Mostly Rieslings : Aromas of bread, biscuits, minerals, a powerful but elegant nose. Tangy and zesty on the palate with focused minerals. Big and full of hazelnut, biscuits and a slight mushroom note. Very expressive and showing some nice age characteristics for such a young Champagne.

Very bubbly. Nice acidity. Great balance and mouth feel.

Lean, tart, badly needing some dosage. Very linear, one-dimensional, with tooth-searing acidity. Maybe this needs time, or maybe my recollection of it is biased by the fact that this was champer #6 of the night, and I was freezing my a$$ off around a bonfire, but this was disappointing given how much I liked their rose.
