Tenth bottle of a case purchased Jan 2017. Decanted only because the cork crumbled (broke in half). This wine continues to improve and is seemingly more BDX-like each time. Lovely nose of red fruits and vanilla. Palate of tertiary notes. Subdued black and red fruits, graphite, leather, tobacco, earth and oak. Medium body with good acidity. Good grip and a long finish. Excellent steak wine and a great QPR. Continues to be a good investment.

Nice blueberry and currants, leather, tobacco, and healthy dose of toasted oak. Tasty.

Tried this maybe 8 years ago and was unimpressed, but it's taken on some interesting secondary flavors and depth now. No rush.

Still drinking way above its weight class! Although It hasn’t developed or otherwise changed much from the previous couple of years. We bought a case, drink one bottle per year - we now have 3 left, which we still intend to drink once per year.

A head turner Cali, Cab dominated BDX blend for just $32 locally on release! Beat that! Ca only accounts for 4% of my cellar while France & Italy are 90%. Even so, I find much kinship w/ Mount Eden Estate & Domaine Eden wines. Apparently, so are others these days as the Estate wines have jumped in cost. The Domaine Eden BDX blend offers some added richness & fruit of CA Cabs but also delivers Santa Cruz Mt structure to …

This was a surprise. This baby brother to the Mt. Eden Cab was spectacular. Did not decant it which I normally do, but found the wine showed much better without the decant. This wine was purchase new and properly stored.

Nice nose but I found it a little too lean on the palate. Good wine.

Still great. Bad cork but hadn’t leaked and thus doesn’t seem to have impacted the wine, other than having to strain out a few bits of cork. No great improvements over the last bottle drunk about a year ago. I still think this has several more years before it starts declining.

Startting to mature. see previous notes. Its aging like its siblings and will benefit from another 5+ years. really nice wine.

Crimson and youthful in appearance and nose remained mute perhaps because it needed a longer decant. The wine had a lovely mouthfeel and showed blue fruits, freshness, some salinity, concentration, and structure to age whilst remaining nicely balanced. A lovely wine that perhaps needs another 5 years or would have been better to drink at home over a period of time rather than at a wine lunch. Scored as tasted. 14% ABV

Classic telltale sign of Cabernet perfume. Crushed cassis, blackberry, dark cherry. Licorice, pencil lead, smoked wood. On the palate, the tannin is nice and dusty. Medium to medium plus body. Love the tension between structure and fruitiness. Fresh. No flappiness here. Old world soul. Savory, garden herbs, forest floor, mineral, with a woodsy finish. Superb California cab from a venerable producer atop Santa Cruz Mountain. I am sure this wine will continue to evolve but as it is, already impressive. …

Earthy nose. Classic cedary cassis with some chocolate. The nose is actually pretty terrific showing lots of brooding classic Cab notes without all the fat fruit you get more often than you like. It's like nighttime. The palate is more disjointed. Tart at the finish showing tartaric additions. Some classic notes here too with the oak showing up in milk chocolate. The finish is just harsh enough to be distracting. A solid buy on the lower end. The nose is …

Earthy and not overly ripe, almost greenish; opened up only after an hour of decanting. Delightful and minimalistic at the same time. Great style if you do not seek opulence and high price.

Last minute selection when we found out our favorite family run sushi shop in a 1st tier Minneapolis suburb Edina was closed to avoid any danger from the violent protest happening in the heart of Minneapolis. Surreal and depressing. Never seen anything like this in the 40yrs we've lived in the Twin Cities. Nearly complete anarchy at our doorstep. So many dreams and lives ruined just 30 minutes from our home. Anyway, my wife made burgers and we relaxed with …

Tannic and raw at first, but softened considerably after some airing. Blackberry, bramble, earthy, this wine will improve over a few years but, at least for the time being, the hard rugged tannins seem to mask a lot of the subtleties underneath.

Needs decanted and a 5 minute spin did the trick. Smooth, dry and tasty with firm tannins. Blackberry, chocolate, mushroom, pencil lead.

According to the label 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot, 1.5% Cabernet. Franc, 2% Malbec. Cassis, leather, green bell pepper, smoke, vanilla. Medium tannins, medium acidity. Approachable now with many years to enjoy.

Very good price/quality, especially if you appreciate less opulent, less fruity, and more dry Cabs, or to be precise Bordeaux-like blends. Much improvement relative to my prior tasting in May 2017. Still, it benefits from an hour of decanting and is not quite at its peak yet (although close enough, it seems). The 5% addition of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cab Franc adds some slightly odd sourness that I don't mind but don't greatly appreciate either. Worthy buying more.

Always an exemplary BDX blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and tiny amount of Petit Verdot & Malbec). Such a terrific value! And, how do beat a wine coming from high up in the Santa Cruz Mts in the hands of master terrorist Jeffrey Patterson for an added cool factor? I double decanted and slow oxed from there for 30 minutes. Delighted to have 4 more. Says 14% on the label but feels more like 12%. 92pts+
