Domaine Maume Gevrey-Chambertin En Pallud

Tasted over 2 hrs -slightly murky dark red violet mild bricking -gorgeous Maume Gevrey aromatics some fading cherry warm earthy stewed tomato -med acidity, med- weight warm earthy faded cherry bitter note carries through to the finish with a faintly creamy oak remnant that shows up with the slightly astringent med/med- tannins -the nose itself is worth every penny, starting to fade a bit on the palate

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs -med dark red, minimal bricking -shy plum ripe sweet dark fruit -just med acidity, med weight quite dense and polished but simple-ish fading dark fruit and earth and some faint oak spice with med tannins on average length finish -very pleasant, sauve for an '07, heft and structure of Pallud, probably on a prime drinking plateau now with no hurry, showing better than a recently opened '07 Mazis

Strawberry Tart! Wild strawberries and earthy fruit of the forest. Pale garnet, slight bricking, with good positive fruity nose. Hints of pepper, minerality, & salty dryness to the full fruitiness. Satisfying extended finish. Great partner to Duck & Puy lentils.

Quite dark in colour and medium body. The nose is lovely with some dark cherries mixed with some earthiness. The flavours are a bit more earthy in the mouth, with decent ripe fruit, the remains of some fine tannin and a very pleasant finish. I thought this may be a little rustic but was pleasantly surprised by the quality here

This satisfies on all levels. Medium density, translucent garnet, good nose with red fruit & oaky herb & tobacco - traces of chewing-gum. The usual raspberry, wild strawberry flavours with good balance of minerality, tannins & oak. No traces of the sometimes barnyard influence. Rounded and satisfying, long finish so typical of Burgundy.

Popped and poured. Medium red-garnet color, quite dark for a village wine from 2007. Subtle but full nose of red fruit, earth, and some spice. Light but complete on the palate with good balance and a moderate finish. A nice wine. Drank from the winelist at Marche in Eugene, OR.
