Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils Nuits St. Georges Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes

Only seven weeks after the prior, we could not resist. Lovely again, this time showing some Vosne-like spices. (Under Coravin over five nights.)

34 months after the prior: similar, again with pleasant barnyard notes. Lovely acid backbone. This is developing well — and it was very enjoyable over three nights.

Nose: Fresh air aromas with big inky/Stargazer lily qualities. Seductive. Palate: Perfect in its evolution this is fantastic now. Good acidity and fruit balance. Could age longer if one chose. This last bottle is just right for my palate. Still 92 points.

2 hour slow ox. Nose: Unlike last bottle (notes on 11/28/19) this had none of the initial mushrooms or Burg funk. Instead beautiful aromas of flowers, cinnamon and nutmeg show with underlying minerality. Palate: Abundant, perfumed, sweet cherries (almost like Ludens cherry cough drops) along with soft tannins and a very elegant finish. Now 92 points. Glad I have one more left.

Light ruby. Asian spices, savory, with excellent acidity. A pleasant hint of barnyard. Quite long. Very enjoyable over three nights.

Nose: Very mushroomy upon pouring but 10 minutes of glass air seemed to mitigate this and showed the typical Nuits characteristics of iron and blood with spicy cherries substrate. Palate: Soft styled with flavors of Indian spices and perfume with saddle leather, iron, grilled meat and cherries underneath it all. Very feminine and subtle with good acidity and soft tannins. Well made.

Das ist Pinot Noir den man so manchem Burgunderkritiker ohne weiteres vorsetzen kann und dabei ziemlich sicher punktet. Aber auch mir gefällt dieser Nuits-Saint-Georges aus dem Grenzland zu Vosne-Romanee sehr. Alles sehr floral, angenehm weich, schön saftig, knackig frisch, keinesfalls zu leichtgewichtig nicht all zu intellektuell ;-) und extremst gefährlich hinsichtlich seiner Trinkschnelligkeit

Toller Wein. Richtig schöner, klassischer PN. Der Moreau ist fruchtiger und leichter, dagegen ist dieser Wein etwas herber und hat auch ein paar schöne Tannine. Deshalb nicht so sehr für den Sommer, schön zum Fleisch.

Some 2011 Côte de Nuits (Thibault Liger Belair, Jean Tardy, Follin-Arbelet RSV) : Medium pinot red. In the nose still slightly backwards, but it's opening up. It's creamy and spicy, there's blackberry and a bit of oak. Very fine. On the palate, it's lean, but there's lots of structure and hidden power, nicely transparent in its aromatics, lean and racy. Very good and has developed very positively in the last half year.
