Bellus Beneventano Caldera

Pale gold color, soft nose, hints of strawberry, bitter on back of tongue. As it opened up the bitter crystallized into almond and the finish became more sour. The finish makes me think of what it might be like to drink liquefied sweet tarts.

This used to be obscure grape is showing up more often in our market place. The color is quite dark golden, but the rest of the wine is very soft and approachable. The smoothness tells us it is balanced and complete. The fruit and non fruit flavors need a bit of swirling and swishing to coax them out. There are minerals, citrus, green apple and some mild oxidation. Elegant moderately fruity finish.
