I'm sorry I cannot score this wine higher as compared to other CA cabs. The aromas were typical for CA cabs, but the body and texture came in a little light and the tannins were not as tame as I prefer. This is not a bad wine but once you consider price and quality, it becomes a little tough to give it a higher score. I will admit I probably should have given this wine another 3-5 years of aging …

Dark cherry, dried sage, a hint of vanilla and warm spice. Creamy and lush with ample acidity for balance.

Likely a PNP (poured at tasting event in Houston last night). Very deep magenta color. Shortbread cookie and black cherry on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with nice, lingering acidity. Firm, full, somewhat zesty, lower intensity tannins on the longish finish. This needs air, which would likely increase the score a bit. I’m not sure it’s any better than their lower priced Date Night CS.

Cherry, raspberry, pipe tobacco, vanilla and baking spices. Delightful. Will age well, but I love the Phifer-Pavitt Cabernets a bit on the youngish side.

Aroma: I smelled fresh raspberry, caramel candies, and a slight hint of menthol. Flavors are bright, juicy raspberry and fresh dark cherry. A little air (10 minutes in the glass) took away some alcohol heat and presented a very well-integrated wine. For me, this was a more fruit forward cabernet than their traditional Date Night, but still retains their style and sensibilities. This wine will cellar well for many years, but is enjoyable today.

Big Napa Cab with surprisingly silky tannins for younger wine. Really opened after 4 hours (no decant). Ripe tobacco and butterscotch on nose. Dark plum, dates on palate with vanilla (Tahitian?) on long finish. Drinking well now but has plenty of time left.
