I am a great Haart fan and it is a good wine but this one appeared to me a bit flat despite it's age.

Two years on since my last taste of this wine, and it is slightly more civilized, but still quite full-flavored. There's tropical fruit and a punchy acidity that makes the fruit almost reach "Sweet-Tarts" territory. a couple of years of age has tamed the sweetness just a bit, or perhaps the acidity is still keeping the sugar at bay. Everything about this wine is big - big fruit, big sweetness, big acid, big bottle! There's nothing subtle about it, which makes it a different sort of Mosel Riesling. It's the sledgehammer of Mosel Rieslings. Served with strongly flavored and spicy food it held it own, but more defensively than in a partnership with the food. Some blueberry on the nose (?) with a hint of botrytis. More honeyed than the Goldtropfchen spatlese. Palate is difficult to identify: strawberries? cherries? orange cream?
