Kilburg Ohligsberg Riesling Kabinett

As phenomenal as previous bottles, but a bit more shut down.

Fresh but ripe stonefruit on both the nose and palate, sprite and peach ring gummies. There's enough acid to balance out the ripeness but the wine could use a bit more. Leans heavier on the residual sugar than the average kabinett.

Minerals in the somewhat reductive bouquet. On the palate a touch of sweetness, minerals an good acidity.

Had a slight bruised fruit taste that was not so great, almost like bordering on TCA, still a decent drink but not a re-buy.

Rather skunky and reductive on opening (not in a good way) that held on until day 2, but with a vigorous decant, this was pretty good. Guava and lime, papaya and faint petrol on the finish (not the nose!) was interesting. I think the reduction will fade but there are better examples of this vineyard for my palate.

Nice citrus- lemon, lime, peach, nice floral, integrated sweetness, slight honey, good acidity. Bright. Energetic Well knit. Really enjoyable.

A good amount of botrytis on the nose, sweet with ample acidity but not enamel stripping acidity. Has a peculiar nose of over ripe fruit that may be polarizing but it did not bother me.

Opened my second bottle of this by accident rather than the Geierslay. Tragic really because I wanted to see a few years of evolution, but even so, this is so easy to love young that it's hard to be too upset. Notes very similar to nine months ago, truly outstanding.

'22 Kilburg Dinner (and Others) (South San Francisco) : This feels a little livelier than the Goldtropfchen and a little more restrained and mineral on the palate. Great aromatic nose with a palate that has intense acidity that is rounded out just so with the residual sugar. The tension on this wine is in a great place right now and is just so joyous to drink.

2022 Kilburg Horizontal (San Francisco) : Lovely nose with notes of peach, lemon, grapefruit, candied fruit, and pear. The palate is fantastic and has a lot going on. High acidity with perfectly balanced sweetness, flavors of lemon, a hint of smoke, peach, more grapefruit, citrus zest, apple, and just a tiny bit of honey. Long finish. Wow, this was really good! Drinking better than the Goldtröpfchen right now and I also think this has the stuffing to age beautifully. My …

Stunning right out of the gate, saline, overripe honeydew, white flower, and wet slate nose. Scalpel acidity and moderate rs, beautifully presented and well balanced. Limeade, elderflower syrup, finishes long on tropical fruit. Incredible.
