A private lunch with friends (Amsterdam) : Made with 100% Chardonnay, 33 year old vines planted on a cool granitic site in Stellenbosch Kloof, fermented and aged for nine months on the lees in French oak (Damy, Chassin, Rousseau, 77% new, 23% second fill), partial malo, with regular 'barrel rolling' rather than bâtonnage. Honestly quite Burgundian in aromatic profile. Unforced, expansive, clear and precise. Honeyed pear, ripe lemon, smoke and hazelnut. The oak treatment is exceptional. Pure, clear, concentrated pineapple and lemon palate: polished and bright.

Pale, almost golden in colour with a pastry and cream nose and subtle sweet melon and apple notes. The palate presents with noticeable high acidity, yellow fruits, and lactic cream flavours, with some toasted oak notes. Medium finish and complexity and brilliance in its flavour profile. Pairs well with a cream chicken and similar full-bodied dishes.

Quite rich in style, and nicely aged at this point. Tropical fruit, butter and oak with good balance. Drink within 3 years.

Buttery, vanilla, oak. Secondary notes - apricot, honey and dried fruit. Acidic on the finish. Rich on the nose.
