50/50 Grenache and Merlot. Opened now, immediately after the other two items above. Wine educators can use 2019 À Côté to demonstrate the primacy of terroir. It may seem like a contradiction, but this same object can also be used as an example of vision. Kirsch ink. Iron-rich fluid. Black grape! There is no shortage of tense, oily green herbs. Plush. Naive. Ruthless young tannin. 92 points.

Big blast of black pepper on the attack, followed by lots of ripe red fruit of the cherry and red berry variety. Pretty solid value. I'm sitting here nursing the final glass, four nights after uncorking it, and it shows very nice strawberry leading to cherry fruit, young tannins, and no degradation at all.

An unusual blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Grenache. The nose on this opens up nicely after an hour with the classic Charvin style of low extraction and full stem inclusion. Nose reveals strawberry, red licorice, raspberry, graphite, smoke, incense, olive, caper, brine, and pepper. The palate is where this falters: dominated by graphite and red licorice, it is quite bitter and short. Still a wine of character and a style I like.

Deep ruby color. On the nose, kpepper, meat and olive rest on top of bright cherries and red currants. Medium+ acid, fine but structured tannins and a silky mouthfeel. Red currants and wild cherries, along with lots of black olive, roasted red pepper and black pepper. Silky, smooth, full of earthy and crushed rock flavors on the finish. Bright and energetic on the palate but firmly structured, with gorgeous dark berry fruit and subtle complexities of smoked game, black pepper, and underbrush. Excellent finishing acidity. Visit to Domaine Charvin (Domaine Charvin) : I've tasted this three times in the last week and every time it has been very enjoyable. Such an unusual blend. Laurent at the Domaine explained that this is 50% Grenache and 50% Merlot gorwn in a vineyard that is outside the bounds of but also directly adjacent to CdP and CdR.
