I have kept this in the cellar more or less for fun, just to see how Merlot-based wine from Tuscany is able to age. And it has kept surprisngly well, although the wine clearly should have been drunk around ten years ago to find it at it's peak. Deep amber in color with a black core. Quite heavy nose not really reminiscent of Merlot, more dominated by tobacco, black cherries-jam, lots of dry earth and wood, and a somewhat bitter …

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs, bottle left upright for months prior, from secondary market -med dark red, mild bricking -moderately aromatic with full ripe plum mature elements faint cedar -med acidity, med weight faint dark cherry earth tobacco -mature but not over the hill, this bottle has aged nicely and remains quite pleasant

Very much alive. Reminded me of an old bordeaux. But I think this has seen better days..probably on decline.

Immer noch eine Granate. Braucht zu Beginn etwas Luft um seine Aromen zu entwickeln, dann aber schöne Balance am Gaumen und langer Abgang.

Not as good as a bottle I had in Dec, '05. A bit overoaked for the depth of fruit. Nice mineral, black cherry, and tea leaves in the mouth. Fairly drying finish. Passed its best.

Medium dark red. Plum, earth and a bit of barnyard. Hint's of sweetness in the dark fruit flavours. Long dry slightly lemon finish. Still some development possible. This wine was 100% Sangiovese and a very nice wine. The 07 is 100% Merlot and in my opinion very mediocre.

Took it to Maggiano's with Mike and Barb. This supertuscan is drinking well now. Note as rich and opulent as other vintages that I have had but a good pairing with our food. Notes of cherries and earthy dark fruit. 89-90 points.

Excellent right now with still plenty of fruit left. Not sure of how it will evolve as the fruit fades but now a great bottle.

Drank with Mom and Mike. Delicious balance of dark fruit and integrated tannins.

A consistently good wine, but probably enjoy the 2003 better than the 1998. Expensive, but very worth it. Deep dark and dry. It's a big indulgent wine, a classic Super Tuscan. Even better in Tuscany with a huge Florentine steak, yummmm.

Dark fruit, minerals and earth; a great food wine with charcoal and graphite. Consumed on the Wednesday before my wedding with Lasagna.

Beau fruit, bel équilibre savoureux, mais concentration et longueur moyennes. Personnalité assez discrète.

Dinner at Joe & Jasmin's with Sheldon & Joyce (Vancouver) : Really nice earthy, sous bois profile. Oddly, one taster who was unaware what the wine was declared it tasted like a nice Chateauneuf. And I could see it too. Lovely medium weight. Beautiful fruit with nice secondary complexity also. Went very well with some grilled lamb and fixins.

Well balanced but beginning to show signs of oxidation, strong glycerin, big nose of smoke and tar followed by black fruit wrapped around bitter tannins, not as much complexity as I would have liked to see at this price point

An intense nose, with the cabernet apparently predominant. Needs a bit of age, but really very good indeed.
