You’d never know this was 23 years old. In a great place, and drank beautifully. Pristine cork.

Now I know that the prior bottle was indeed corked. This one, my last, was wonderful.

disappointing - past its prime (partially corked?) and overly acidic.

This wine is at a nice place. Stylistically on the modern side, and very well made. A good balance of fruit and tannins, with hints of oak (but nothing over the top) - very well integrated. Blackberry jam, cassis, ripe pear, hints of coffee and vanilla. A really solid effort.

It's been nine years since I last tasted the 2001 Valduero, which I opened by accident. Today's bottle is intentional- Mothers Day Sunday roast. It is deep garnet colored with definite signs of aging. The nose smells divine- leather, earth, blackberry jam, cassis, mint, coffee bean, vanilla, baked blueberry and a medicinal note. The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity and melded tannins which caress my gums. This 100% Tempranillo is full bodied and I get flavors of stewed/cooked …

On open, blueberries and a bit of earthy funk that gave way quickly to oak and dill, with a touch strawberry sour cherry. The oak and dill were very overpowering, so into the decanter it went. At 45 min, blueberries and spice would show after swirling, then disappear behind the strawberry-sour cherry- dill concoction, still complimentary earthy notes. Elegant and restrained, but something is off kilter. At 60 min this turned into a sour, acidic bitter mess, so much so, …

Still has time but has never really evolved past a simple but enjoyable GR Ribera del Duero over the 5 years and 3 bottles we've enjoyed.

Oh wow. At 18 years this bottle is in a very good place. No signs of age in the color and no bricking. Dark purple. Fruit on the nose and with a nice buttered popcorn smell. Mildly tannic with some grippy-ness. On the tongue its "grapey" in a way similar to nero d'avola, and again buttered popcorn. Finish is long and pleasant, not sweet, not bitter. Slightly fruity. Somewhat remarkable at 18 years. We might hope that all tempranillo, as …

This wine had been in hypersleep, but it is now begining to wake up. Make sure you give it plenty of air....at least 3 hr decant and it will reward you.

My last bottle unfortunately. It was excellent and evolved over many hours. Medium body and elegant. BTW, the color was magnificent and hard to believe for a wine this age. Must have a long way to go!!

Concentrated and complex, but I was hoping for more elegance and personality. Possibly too young, but it did get a couple of hours in the decanter.

Okay so I took this out of the cellar and opened it and let the bottle breath for about an hr and a half. Then i decanted it and let it open up in the decanter for about 45 minutes and it totally changed its character. Tons of oak on the nose. I thought I was going to inhale a splinter. A nice very complex wine with oak but then tobacco, red velvet cake, and some touch a spice I …

I would have consumed this a few years ago. It got better towards the end but it would stop mid palate for me. So some fruit up front and then just gone. I had hints of dill, maybe parsley on the the end of it as well. You can smell and taste the oak as well. Good not great. I would drink this now.

Interesting nose dominated by Asian spice. The palate shows blackcurrant and leather, but the fruit is in the background, with a prominent acidity dominating.

Blind tasting, red wine flight 4 wine #7. Dark ruby with crimson hue, showing aromas of roasted espresso, jammy sweet fruits, toasty oak, vanilla, coconut, ripe fruits, violet and hints of menthol. Still young and structured on palate, oak is prominent with vanilla and coconut flavours, nice sweetness from the fruits, supple dark cherry and plum. Good finishing. This is very new world style to me. 2001 is indeed a top vintage for Rioja with richness and purity of the …

good wine, but seems to have crested. May not have matched with food - wood oven baked za -, but it none the less seems to have aged quickly this past two years. Fruit and tannin ok, but acid is quickly disappearing. Paired with different food, this may be an excellent delicate wine.

Bouche légèrement plus végétale que les vins de sa catégorie. Une bonne dose de vanille au nez mais en bouche le bois est bien intégré. Ce vin n'est pas surfait. Surpris par une certaine finesse.

Wonderful. This has evolved in a very sustained way. Can't wait to drink my final 2 bottles.
