Classic mature Coche, good color for its age, good ripeness on the palate with richness. Lots of hazelnut, creme brulee and butter. 92-93

A really wonderful bottle that kept getting fresher as it opened up.

This 1999 Meursault is likely the most reductive Coche Dury I have tasted. At 23 years of age, it does not show much signs of ageing. Beautifully expressive bouquet of sweet citrus & white fruits and buttery popcorn. Some saline and spice touch underneath the layer of reduction. Relatively light bodied compared to more recent vintages, but compensated by its stunning bouquet. Gorgeous today but will continue to age for another decade (minimum). An incredible village wine! Last bottle from my case, paired with 99 Maison Leroy Meursault which this handily beat. decanted 30 minutes after opening. Lovely toasty nose but not too heavy. Some 30 minutes after decanting this was already fucking beautiful, and it really opened up with more time. Soooo toasty, really beautiful, but not overpowering. About 3 hours after opening this just got really powerful, and finally we got a load of the classic popcorn nose.

[Blind] Burnt buttery, nutty, macadamia nut and hazelnut. Mature, developed, weighty but has fresh florals above rich yellow fruit. Palate is mature and the yellow fruit is a touch tart and orange at the beginning. Good acid. Nice state of maturity and fully enjoyable right now. Rich, big weight. Still has freshness and racy acidity. Fruit getting brighter and more tropical towards the end. Restrained at first.

Coche-Dury Meursault Vertical 1990, 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2011.... 2 of 6 opened at 4:00 served at 7:00. Beautiful light yellow color, white fruits and flinty notes on nose. Far tighter than the 01 and 04 which were opened at roughly the same time, the 04 was on fire almost immediately. The palate on the 99 was tight and youthful white and citrus fruit lots of minerality I agree with Burgnick this has “lots of gas in the tank”. A …

Gunflint, matchstick, peach, and citrus. The 99 Coche Meursault has consistently outperforms in every dimension to reflect what an aged Coche should be like. The wine has so much gas in the tank to hit its sweet spot plateau, and in fact, it still tastes a bit young for me.

served warm at the request of my friend, which opened up the nose but also meant the palate was less crisp, resulting in a slight bitter finish. Nose-wise this was classic Coche-Dury, with plenty of toasty oak, roasted corn, and buttery corn. Always a beautiful wine.

Wine Dinner at Carbone (Carbone) : Bright medium yellow center. Initial bouquet of white fruits swimming in a sea of salinity and minerality which stood in contrast to the round, buttery initial nose of its fight companion, a 1999 d'Auvenay Puligny Montrachet Folatieres. The palate showed a similar profile, bright and delineated white fruit, lively acidity, crisp texture. Still taught and youthful. Over the next two hours this picked up weight, texture and complexity adding some buttery popcorn notes that …

Mercifully pox free as nearly all my Meursault from Coche-Dury has been. Indeed still quite youthful seeming with deeper colour and more complexity than the previous Ganevat, of course, and making its mark more by focussed saline minerality with fresh acidity than by nutty and other secondary flavours but there was still ample white fruit and butterscotch tinged roundness for balance. Very good.

Perfectly indicative of the Coche-Dury house signature: highly reductive and just packed with intense flavour and concentration. White flowers, honeysuckle, amber clover honey, and creamy lemon meringue. Sensational for any calibre of burgundy, forget village...

24-Hour Tampa Blitzkrieg; 2/27/2016-2/28/2016 : Classic Coche Mersault profile - Smoky, sulphur, like the LeFlaive matchstick but way more intense and electric. Soldering smoke and electricians tape. White florals. A beautiful piece of work the provides very pleasurable drinking. (92-93).

good amount of toast and grilled corn in the nose, with a bit of lemon. Very round on the palate without much acidity at first, although the acidity balance got better as the wine opened up more. A little disappointed here.

Clayfu's birthday (Los Angeles, CA) : Heartbreaking. I thought this was alright at first, showing the correct density, but the pervasive baked apple note and a slight oxidative note makes me call it as the pox.

I regret that the bottle was corked. (I am only mentioning it so as to give comfort to others who might experience similar, and for them to know that they are not alone!)

En fullt mogen Meursault med massor av exotisk frukt, smör, mineral och fin balans. Tycker nog att denna till och med var snäppet bättre än 1 cru Caillerets av samma årgång.

Expensive Winos for dinner (Frederiksberg) : Great performance tonight - one rarely sees the white wines from this robust red wine year, but this was really firing on all cylinders with citrus, butter, exotic fruit a strong acidity. Drinking very well on day 2, no harm done to the wine. Bravo.

A taste of Coche-Dury (Angler, City of London) : The others were wowed by this, but I was underwhelmed - the oak is integrated, and it's nicely balanced, but all a bit muted
