Domaine François Millet & fils Gevrey-Chambertin

Red berries, cherries, plum, very high acidity, classic gevrey structure. Nose is muted and not showing very well at this point. Most intense after 3 hours then starts to shut down again. Has potential to evolve. I recommend to open it in 3-5 years.

Pale ruby, transparent, clear. Beautiful nose. Palate is mineral, savoury, some bright red fruit but mostly secondary. Lovely texture, palate weight and structure, very well balanced, judicious oak usage. Harmonious and integrated, very well made village wine. Drinking extremely well, don't see a huge amount of upside here.

Very good showing today. The edgy fruit from last year has mellowed out, classic Dujac showing. Light, elegant but with a tightly knitted core. More Dujac than Gevrey, you’d be forgiven for thinking this is the Domaine stuff, only lacking that bit of finish

complex, totally balanced.

i tried the 2016 yesterday so thought i'd sample the 2017 today. it made me better appreciate the 2016 which left fond remembrances. this wine is sort of green and thin. i think more time in the bottle may bring it around but as it stands not very exciting. i am going to give it another couple of years...
