Was a little worried that 2009 would have passed its peak, but there was really no danger. I would say that it is in its drinking window now, you can start to discern the tertiary notes, still nice fruit with clear fine-grained tannins. Dried roses, orange peel and anise together with dried cranberries and red cherries. Glad I have a bottle left. Drink or hold.

Medium red with clearing and some rust at the edges. Red and black cherries, touch of strawberry, mushrooms, earth and leather. High acidity, high tannins. There a subtle softness, smoothness classic for Barbaresco. Great wine the first hour. The fruit then faded a bit in glass, but still enjoyable.

Enomatic sample. Quick notes. Tar, roses and floral notes. Earthy character with rather drying tannin that require accompanying food.

Very fruity - lots of raspberries, cherries, strawberries, hints of smoke and chocolate. Not much if any ethereal Barbaresco character - no autumn leafs, not much tar and floral, no sous bois, truffles, balsamic and other transcedental stuff that in my opinion characterizes a top notch Nebbiolo wine. The alcohol is a bit high and acids harsh - must be a poor vintage when only the best of the very best succeeded.

Pungent leather, balsamic, dried sour cherries, and hints of pine. Great structure, tannins slightly coarse but well-integrated. Needs a lot of air, didn't start opening until after a couple hours of slow ox followed by 3 hours in the glass.

Light ruby color. Nose of cherries, rose petals and milk chocolate. Medium acid, medium tannin that seems to have integrated nicely. Pallet matches the nose with cocoa, tart cherry. Long finish. This was a superb wine that is drinking nicely right now. 1 hour slow ox, 1 hour decant.

Soft and well rounded. Really like the floral scent on the nose. Drinks well maybe a bit light but overall a nice compliment to the food

Pale rusty red. Beautifully fragrant, violets and roses, tar spice, ink and licorice. Bright and intense. Plump berry fruit, very fine and very furry tannins. Good acidity and fresh lingering fruit-driven flavours. Lovely blue and red berries with a nice gentle spicy edge.

At least 4 years too young, probably even more. Shows good potential with strong tannins. Elegant fruit.

Albino Rocca Winery Visit (Albino Rocca in Barbaresco) : Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of floral violets, balsamic, earth, and mild oak. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, puckery high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, balsamic and earthiness. Very good quality. Showing some development already from this relatively fast maturing 2009 vintage. Probably another 4-5 years and this should be …

Quite complex. Spice, leather, cedar, soot. Florals evolve with time. Plenty of flavour. Rounded mid. Long. Tannins nicely sculpted but not OTT. Drinkable prospect. Interesting vine wood ctr on finish.

Lovely brownish rim, but only just starting to develop on the nose. It is drinking well now, and over a period of four hours in the decanter it only grew and grew. I think this has a long life. It is still fruity first and foremost, and the only critizism I got is the lack of a floral element, but it could develop. Still a very good wine, that was a true pleasure.

Lovely medium depth in the ruby colored wine. The nose was very expressive right from the start. It had pepper and lots of red fruit on the nose. The palate was the same, and the lean character of the wine made it very elegant and pleasant. It has an almost long finish, and is very harmonious.
