This was absolutely delightful. I was worried that it would be past its best, but this was bought from the winery and professionally stored since. The colour and aroma was immediately promising. Bright red and dark fruits on the nose and palate. Fine grained but interesting tannins. A brackish crackle of cedar and twigs with a cool slate thing on the back palate. Still lots of length - I think it will be better day 2. Top value.

Rich and bold velvety mouth-coating goodness. Restrained for what it is (hot vintage?), the tertiary component really compliments and guides the wine now. A Medium+ bodied wine with black fruit & black pepper primary, cedar secondary and mushroom & leather tertiary flavours, Medium+ acid, Medium+ tannin and High (14.5%) alcohol. We rated this wine Very Good.

While I prefer syrah to be lighter and more delicate, if a bigger wine is thrown my way, i can still enjoy it and this is a good example. Oak is present but judiciously used. Fruit is ripe but not stewed, good licorice and anise, pepper, but avoids the bitter chocolate-charry mess that ruins several AU syrah for me. 14.5% abv, but doesn't appear too boozy if served at 18C.

(Langtons w Mich&Bo) nice and restrained, expressive, but tannins are waaay to young. try again in 10 years.

{cork, 13.7%} Solid garnet, not much age visually. Nose is developed, quite restrained; a touch musty (clearing up with air), but with plenty of black pepper and herbs. Blackcurrants & plums. Palate is a bit flat; has a spicy, prickly type of acidity, and some distinct warmth, but only the faintest gritty tannins and almost no length of finish at all. I mean, it really disappears off the palate quickly. Evenly, true - but that element of balance doesn't exactly …

Wine Notes The bouquet and palate have the Estates’ typical cracked black pepper/spice combined with blackberry and plum flavours and aromas. Firm fine grained tannins provide excellent structure to the wine that will soften with bottle development. This is a wine that can be enjoyed young with food, but will also reward careful cellaring. Harvested: 11th April 2008 Cellaring: 6-10 years Winemaker: Lindsay McCall

Inky red to purple in colour, the nose has dense blackberry fruit, the palate continues in the same vein with blackberry providing the backbone from which spicy pepper, riper plum and structure building tannins evolve. The oak is supportive and provides A subtle vanillin lift. The wine had good length of concentrated dark berries and needs time before it will be at it's best. Not bad except for a slight hint of vinegar on the finish. Much better on day 2 -- vinegar was gone 88.

Fairly intense cool climate style. Plums, herbs, spice and oak that only appears in the background. The wine needs a bit of time for the palate to develop some complexity.

Despite being nice on the nose, this wine was very tart and acidic. Very unpleasant taste that was somewhat better the next day. Will not be buying it again.

Opened a bottle about a month ago and was pleasantly surprised. Last night's bottle was a disappointment. The wine was totally flat, absolutely no fruit came through even after leaving the wine in a decanter for a couple of hours.
