Easy drinking, aromas of rich ripe fruit, red plums, blackberries, and boysenberries, complimented by anise, spice and cocoa. Juicy tannins lead into a long warming finish tinged with cocoa. Definitely calmed down after the bottle had been open for a few hours. Not bad for a bottle that only cost $15

{screwcap, 14.5%} Blue-tinged garnet. Not often you agree with the back label on a cheap red but I’d agree with blueberries and a bit of spice here. It’s perhaps a bit glue-like, both in aromas and flavour, in addition to the ripe blue fruit with liquorice overtones, but there’s only rudimentary oak (if any), low/medium acidity, low dusty tannins and a fairly simple finish, short but at least not too sweet.
