Last bottle. Have loved these and seems to get better over time. Lots of stuffing in this Rossi. A few excellent years of drinking ahead for those lucky enough to have more

This bottle was all barnyard funk, savory and earthiness. Try as we might, we couldn't coax any fruit out of it. After blowing off the barnyard, there was earth and savory and, and, and. Nothing. We worked it for several hours without any noticable change. Not consistent with earlier bottles of this that we opened over the past several years. Disappointing.

This is just a lovely fresh juicy rosso, lacking in pretension but making it up in pure drinkability. Six years after vintage, colour is lovely, bright cherry with a tinge of brick. Nose - mianly fruit, with cherry and plum but also some earth and old wood. Palate is fresh and juicy as well with lovely sweet cherry and plum fruit and juicy currant and plum acidity. Soft tannins and medium acidity - just a great match with food - …

Delightful. Paired with roasted chicken. Bright, cherry, savory, earthy, balanced. Very nice. Last opened a bottle over a year ago - holding up great! Maybe even a smidge better?

Three years since my last taste/note and there's no change to my impressions. If nothing else, it is quite sturdy.

Nice. Tart cherry, juicy and zippy. Good grip on the backend. Ripe. Definitely give it an hour or so.

This has softened since my previous bottle a couple of years ago and was in the perfect spot for my taste. Wish I had more -

First pour upon uncorking: Alcohol and tart cherries on the nose. Those cherries dominate the palate, but do allow some dry herbal notes to come through. It needs some time to open up and balance out, but I like what the smooth mid-weight body suggests might be in store. Preliminary rating of 87. Now that it has decanted for 45 minutes, it has improved in some areas, but also revealed some flaws. Cherries are less tart, more ripe, The dry …

Quite possibly the “perfect” RdM. Paired with pasta Bolognese and (on day 2) pizza. Mid-weight, cherry fruit dominates. Full flavor, uncomplicated joy with both dishes. Better on day 2, compulsively drinkable. Would not hesitate to serve this on a weeknight with even the most jaded of palates. Wish I had a case to make new converts.

Delightful Rosso that's drinking nicely right now. Fresh cherries, just enough food friendly acids, charming finish. What's not to like? Bottle didn't make it past the first round!

The wine merchant gave this to me for free as he said chances are very slim there's any life left in this. I had to agree; Rossos are menat to be drank max 4-5 years after the vintage and even brunellos can start to fade after 10-15 year. Indeed upon opening I almost spilt it immediately: it was all but disgusting, disjointed and disintegrated. However, 2 hours later began to assemly itself and come to life. Ultimately it became a …

Fantastic nose of black cherry, earth, herbs and a hint of leather. Body is a little thin and the finish is hot but still very satisfying. Should cross 90 with time.

In a nice spot now where the earthiness/herbs/spice are still complimented by fading red and sour cherry fruit that retains just enough freshness. Feels Tuscan. Good wine and value. Drink now - 2023

Such tasty Rossi with a little air it sings with bright dark fruit and balanced palate. Good weight. I think I enjoy this now more than the brunello from Sesta I want a cellar full of this wine for weeknight delight

Notes after following for three days open while storing at cellar temp and it seemed to change very little over that stretch of time. It has a beautiful dusty ruby hue with light saturation, no sediment. Bouquet is simple but very pretty - cherries and lilacs. In the mouth, I agree with the other notes about the high heat but aside from that, it has a gently rustic character to the fruit and some very firm acidity to keep the …

Red fruits, wood shavings, slightly sweet. Moderately high acidity. Good with food especially. The 14.5% alcohol is noticeable and became a little unpleasant to me after a couple glasses; but it isn’t overwhelming. A few years aging might do a lot of good.

PnP. Good, not great showing, with some fading freshness; still a fine weeknight drop. Red/dark red fruits, some spice, soil, avg acidity. Now or in the next couple of years. recommended http://www.italianwine.blog

Highly attractive Rosso di Montalcino, hopefully presaging a good year for this type of wine. Medium garnet color. Cherry is a little hard to find in the bouquet, but is there behind forest floor, smoke, black tea and sandalwood. Satin texture, with a scaffold of chalky tannins. Round and juicy, with cherry and earth on entry, followed by hints of black tea and licorice. Still young and primary, but at this price a great wine to have on hand.

Excellent wine for the price. Medium color and body; nose has fruit and forest; taste is dry but complex with soft tannins on the lasting finish; everything is just a notch below what I expect is an outstanding Brunello from this producer.

Tasted at the Tre Bicchieri NYC event. A little hard and young but less tannic than it big brothers the Brunelli. Dominated by cherry fruit and licorice. Still on the elegant side and probably beautiful to drink over the next 5 years with a decant.

Absolutely loved the 2015 vintage of this wine, so was happy to see 2016 on the shelves and grabbed one to try it out. Pale/Medium Ruby color. Aromas of black cherry, pencil shavings and a strong barnyard quality that is not entirely pleasant. Medium body, with juicy black cherries on entry, graphite and sourness in the mid-palate and a dusty tannic finish. Not planning to re-buy.

Just ok right now - at least based on this bottle. I may want to taste again at VinItaly 2018 in a few weeks. The only one of their three new releases that didn't wow me, wasn't exciting . Ruby color, resinous and sappy nose (rather counter to the finer examples of 2016 rosso wines). Full in the mouth, this lacks tension. Aromas and flavors of dark red berries, tobacco, but no soil; really no sense of grape or place. …
