Yves's Memorial; 11/10/2018-11/11/2018 (MO) : Tough lineup for this one. Tannins a bit harsh and showing some wood still. Not a lt of nuance or elegance.

Ruby with a hint of garnet at the rim. Feels a hint watered down, but still with a slightly tough finish. Better on day 2. Hold?

Moderately mature black fruit with soft and rounded tannins. Moderate weight and length. Time to drink up, this is getting slightly drying on the finish for a 2000.

Good, but nothing special. Typical right-bank Bordeaux. Not very tannic, but juicy. Had nice balance of acid and ripe fruits. Dry, with medium finish.

Very nice berry floral nose. Soft cherry berry palate with tobacco and spice. Tannins are well resolved and I see nothing to be gained from holding any longer.

No detailed note but a pretty and very drinkable St Emiliion. Drank alongside a 2001 Barde Haut which overshadowed this slightly, but pretty sure this is the better wine in the long run.

A bit from memory, but this was an excellent bottle. I let it breathe for an hour or so, no decant. Very smooth, dare I say, almost reminded me, sort of, kind of, in a distant way, of a Calif red wine of some type. There, I have written it :-). Held up for an hour or so during dinner. No need to hold any longer. Tannins full resolved (if they were there at the outset), well balanced, fruit, acid, …

What a pleasant surprise. I bought this bottle without much information, save a very positive WA review. Very interesting bottle (in a pleasant way). Clearly a Bordeaux, but not the norm. An intriguing spiciness upon opening and through the better part of the bottle. Reasonable fruit, smooth tannins. My only regret is that I did not decant this for very long -- might have helped.

Ripe black cherry and plum on nose and palate. Sweet tannins a bit dominant at the start, then very good fruit comes through nicely with black pepper and meaty herbs. Ripe fruit and tannins on finish.

Strong tobacco, spice, berry nose. Same on the palate, with dried cranberry. Wet cedar and too acidic on the finish. Thick and Very dark. Better on the second day.

too chunky and fruity for my palate but the bouquet is excellent and its very strong for what it is.

I've not been liking a lot of bordeauxs lately but this had nice fruit and was quite nice with food and after

Decanted for 30 mins. - opened up nicely; Drank with BBQ chicken on the grill - probably not the best pairing, but the wine was very good. Berry, spice and chocolate. Good stuff!

First of my 2000 Bordeaux to be drank - decant for 1 hour; opened up nicely - nice berry and spice with a hint of chocolate; tannins have mellowed

Drinking pretty well at this stage. Tannins have softened to allow dark flavors of cocoa and tobacco to dominate. Not sure if it will improve with time, will try one in another year.

Very strong tobacco and coffee aromas with a hint of chocolate, spice, and smoky fruit. Tannic and alcoholic. Doesn't seem very well balanced at the moment, even after an hour+ decanting.

Only fully opened after an hour of decanting. Notes of chocolate and spice, with a finish of dried fruit. Not quite as structured as I'd hoped, but a good bottle none the less!
