Bouchard Pere et Fils Pinot Noir Bourgogne Reserve

Opened up nicely over the 2 hours it took to prepare roasted chicken dinner.

Nothing special. Medium red color. Mild fruit nose when opened. Light tannins. Taste and structure almost completely gone after open for an hour. Adequate, but won't buy again.

This has improved since the last time I tasted it two years ago. Fruit is more to forefront now and overall wine is more balanced. Some nice strawberry aromas on the nose that continue on the palate, which delivers adequate concentration and a respectable finish. Needed a couple of hours in a decanter to be at its best. Was fine if not better on day two. Drink or hold.

Juicy, and while leaning to the modern style, still correct. Rock solid for the price point. Tasty.

Great generic-level burgundy with a hefty dose of earthiness (wet clay?!?), and a soft, harmonious small red fruit note that comes out after thirty minutes or so. Good acidity and very muted tannins. While. It a long-term ager... I feel like this has the structure to make it to 2022 or so. Easy to drink, easy to like. ‘17 is a nice return to a more subtle, classic burgundy after the larger ‘15 and ‘16 vintages.

Aromas of cherry, cedar, and spice. Similar taste profile. At first open there was a little pickle juice note but that burned off in about 1/2 hour. Got better with more air. Gained some gamey and tobacco notes. I wonder if it is still too young or if I should just be sure to open and possibly decant a good hour prior to serving.

Structured cherry fruit. Bill notes that this is not a "wha-wha" low end burgundy that tastes like cranberry juice mixed with lake water. It's not that. Nor puddle of autumn leaves. Hes on a roll. And indeed it is more substantial than all of that. And more structured as well. I'd hold for two more years (as long as the world doesn't end) and start drinking then.

Cherry & strawberry. Puckeringly dry in a good way. Just a little more fruit though and it'd be great. Though at under $20 it’s a good buy.

Decanted just before drinking. Very nice quaffing wine, clean, a bit simple, but so easy to drink. P liked. At $17, a bargain. Good wine to buy by the case for uncritical midweek drinking or to use in sauces.

This is very nice, I enjoyed it as a casual drinker, no hard edges, a nice clean tasting Bourgogne. Very little tannin so good to drink now.
