Junichi Fujita Konomama Brittan Vineyard

This here a beautiful story. Touches the soul. I had this with a black angus grilled to tasty at our local joint. The owner turned me regular by giving me a hat. I hope Junichi finds a following and that we all will benefit.

Decanted for an hour. Ripe blackcurrant, ripe blueberry, ripe blackberries, mushroom, dirt/earth, fresh tarragon, dried leaves, game and pork fat on the nose. Smells vibrant, with a high intensity of aromas. While it's still varietally correct for PN, I MIGHT call it Syrah blind from the nose. The palate loses the animal stuff. Complex brambly blue and red fruit. Silky tannins. Nice acidity. Damp earth. Should be very good with time. From the neighboring vineyard. 92+

Assertive to the point of aggressive with bright red fruit, strict tannin, and very low pH. I found myself struggling to like this wine. New school for sure

Pretty and light on open, but gets weird after two hours. Recovers completely on day 2 and gets good again. Pop and pour and consume quickly, or be prepared to put the bottle away for a day once it gets weird.
