This is a tasty oaky Chardonnay from Chalk Hill in Russian River Valley. Dry on the palate with mild complexity. Showing oak, vanilla, lemons, apples, pears and light spices. Spicy finish with almonds. A good quality wine. Easy drinking, elegant and bold. Still young and has good potential to be better in a few years. A nice food wine, and good for parties, too. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. 100% Chardonnay grapes were aged …

Bright and full bodied, there's lots of freshness to notes of lemons, crunchy white and yellow fruit, and 'Nilla wafers. It gains and evolves, with pears, baking spices, and minerals emerging throughout. Really nice presence and structure. Good length on the sapid finish.

This is a rather aromatic chardonnay with apple aromatics dominating over tropical fruit. Moves quickly in mouth to tropical fruit with a mid palette of dominating acidity, telling me that this wine has much room to improve and settle. Finishes with an acidity that gives way to a cedar wood mouthfeel.

More than “decent”, somewhat restrained but balanced. Definitely has seen some oak as there are some slight butter notes, but the oak regimen was well managed. Like the fruit and freshness. Solid finish.

The wine is clear, medium lemon, and there are no appreciable legs. On the nose, medium plus intensity with aromas of green apple, lemon, blossom, and hay. There are secondary notes of butter, bread, and cedar. On the palate, the sweetness is dry, the acidity is medium plus. The alcohol is medium, and the body is full. Flavor intensity is medium, with notes of pear, lemon, and honeysuckle. There are also notes of butter, brioche, and vanilla. The finish is …

3.5 Medium gold in color with aromas of toasted nuts, smoke, petrol, pineapple, and sweet lemon. Nice acidity to match the rounded body of the wine. Flavors add notes of butterscotch and candied pineapple. The flavors carry nicely into the finish. Excellent.

This wine has a medium lemon yellow color. Nose is slightly oaky with citrus and flint. Medium bodied with nice vibrant acidity. Flavors include some smokey oak/vanilla and lots of creamy lemon curd with a fairly long, slightly honied finish. This is a very pleasant and solid effort that certainly will drink well for the next 3-4 years at least at a good QPR.

Very light golden color. Nose of apples and flowers. Fills tongue with apple and cantaloupe and lingers...and transformers to a honey spice. Interesting twist for a budget wine. Buttery Chardonnay. Not bad.

Lots of nutty aromas with apple, earthiness, and a touch of minerality. Oak is exceptionally well balanced for an entry level Chardonnay. Palate was well balanced, alhoughta bit tarter than I expected. Impressive complexity, given the price.

Strong, Ripe, Red Apple and toast on the nose that continues onto the palate and the everlasting, sweet apple-lime finish. This is a powerful Chalk Hill with excellent minerality derived from volcanic ash. This is a bit alcoholic and could use some restraint, but the bold style can be appreciated here. Nicely oaked with a nice peach note. This has the structure to age well.

Came in 8th out of 12 wines with a 14.4/20 average score in our Judgment of Ballston II blind tasting of White Burgundy vs. US Chardonnay. (The winner was the 2009 Linden Hardscrabble Chardonnay from Virginia.) Although several others liked it, I was not a big fan of this big, buttery CA-style chard. My blind tasting notes: "Malolactic, simpler, _buttery_ CA chard, a bit one dimensional, 10/20."

From a bottle purchased for Halloween party guests, this was one (of the few) that went unopened. Light-to-medium yellow in color, it has a "classic" Califonia Chardonnay nose that many would find to be the cat's meow. Citrus, pear and ripe peach are supported on the palate by accents of oak and butter. Fresh acidity comes to the rescue on this one, which carries the wine through a solid mid-palate and onto a medium-length finish. Not my style, but this …

Drank @ John & Tiffany's. Clear gold in color, showing evident use of oak. Minimal fruit on the nose and palate, but it consists of tropical fruit, with a touch of nuts. This is a well balanced, oaky chardonnay. Those who enjoy this style will enjoy this wine, although it's not the best QPR. Don't wait too long on this one.
