- Garnet color. Can see your fingers through. Dark fruited. Vanilla, oak. Herbs, leafy. Really juicy bright fruit. Fine tannin. A little spice. Nice acid. Plenty of grip and structure that isn’t describable as foursquare, more diamond. Smooth. The alcohol is balanced. Nice weight, plush and full on the palate. Chocolate. Dried flowers. Long fruity spicy finish. It’s a very pretty wine. +91 paired really well with bone-in ny strip, still drinking well and should continue to drink well for …

(16,5/20) Bit stricter style, this wine. Fresh and with beautiful tannins. Label says Cabernet Sauvignon, but it has 14% Malbec added. Aged for 19 months in oak barrels, 37% new. Medium+ intense aromas of violet, red plum, blackcurrant, blackberry, green bell pepper, liquorice wood, toast, vanilla, coffee, leather, gravy. Dry wine, medium+ acidity, medium+ and fine-grained tannins, full body, pronounced flavour intensity, long finish. 14% ABV - 10x Cabernet Sauvignon tasting @ Wijnrestaurant Pinot

Has now come around - fleshed out, rounded edges, quite a lot of intensity, still primary berry-driven profile but a lot of Cabernet for the money.

Well balanced from aroma to finish. Darker red fruit some earth and good structure. Subdued and even yet with some tension. Screwtop but no sign of reduction. Excellent.

Deep ruby. Plum, mulberry. Cedar and cinnamon and a bit smoky on the nose. Alcohol +. Sour cherry on the palate. Alcohol high. Good acid and tannins. Well structured. However, It’s a little one dimensional with too much alcohol and probably a bit over oaked. 45% new oak I’m told

Yo, this cab is straight-up bussin’. First sip hits you with mad dark fruit vibes—blackberry, cassis, maybe even some bougie blueberry action. But it’s not just fruity; it’s got that rich, velvety tannin game going strong. There’s a lil’ bit of spice and earthiness too, like if your grandpa wore a leather jacket and knew how to use TikTok. The finish? Long AF. This thing lingers like an ex who still watches your stories. 10/10 would pair with a fat …

Garnett/purple color. Nicely balanced nose of black and blue fruit, baking spice, earth, oak, and leather. Very refreshing wine on the palate of berries, oak and, black currant. Tannins initially very grippy but soften quickly providing a medium mouthfeel with refreshing acid. Not the longest finish but still decent. Drink now through the next two years.

In a world awash in overripe wines, this cab is on the lean and green end of the spectrum. Vasse Felix has a reputation for herbaceousness, but it’s almost as though they fermented some grape leaves along with the bunches in this vintage. I’ve enjoyed previous years more. I’m going to hold my two remaining bottles in hopes that they mature into a friendlier wine, but that seems unlikely.

Classic Vasse Felix aromatics. Need sometime for the wine to open up. Bright and fresh blackcurrant, smoked earthy spices, toasty bell pepper and hints of vanilla oak. Palate echoed the nose, with just a touch more earthiness. Good purity, linear and clean medium-bodied structure. Texture is rounded, transiting nicely into an elegant and velvety finish. Still young, another 3 to 5 years development will have better depth. 90-92 pts.

This is a blend of Cab Sauv and 14% Malbec. Deep ruby in the glass with violet hues. Nose is marked with aromatics of fresh black fruit, green pepper, sweet spices. Full-bodied, unripe tannins, bright acidity, warming alcohol. Long finish. A bit young at this stage.

Vasse Felix masterclass (Lost Roots wine bar) : Home & Gnarawany vineyard, 80% Houghton Cabernet Sauvignon (clones 125 + 126), Houghton Malbec, 40% new oak -/- The wine shows high intensity in the nose, very oaky dominated, varnish again, the fruit lies in the back, the wine feels drier compared to Tom Culity tasted before, warmth, toasty, whole spice, equally big as the Tom Culity, tense, really youthful, concentrated, some red cherry notes in the back. Palate quite more subtle …

Sweet dark fruit and medium to big body but with good acidity and some structure but most of all a quite fruit forward and uncomplicated Cabernet Sauvignon that I think is drinking well already (I’d enjoy these over the medium term but not cellar for too many years).

Beautiful nose of black currant and eucalyptus with a lashing of oak. Med-full bodied, this is fresh with loads of black currant and cranberry with just a waft of sweet bell pepper and a distinctly saline finish. Bright acids with medium tannin and good density, this is quite delicious. Drink now-2031. 92

still very youthful purple colour, rich blackberry, mulberry, and cassis fruit nose, has some finesse already but just too young to have developed any tertiary nuances or complexity, palate has good balance and depth, smooth tannins, well made and has character, could be excellent in 10-20 years, easy enough to drink now but there is potential for much more

Pretty decent. I don't know if it is worth the price, but it is an enjoyable Aussie Cab with a good fruit-to-acid ratio. Tannins are there and noticeable and pleasant. I had a 2017 not too long ago, and it was better than this, and the QPR for it was pretty decent. Just not this one.

Dark reddish ruby in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of blueberries, plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & herbal notes, mint, spices, some cedar, oak/vanilla notes & a hint of VA in the background. Closing out the 34th Virtual Wine Tasting was this 100% Cab Sav from Margaret River in Western Australia. I wanted to introduce the group to a whole new region and style that this versatile grape can achieve. We noted a deep ruby color with high viscosity (14.5% ABV). The nose hit us with an intense aroma of green pepper right off the bat. Getting past that we smelled cassis, blackberry, black plum, smoke, baking spices, licorice, mint and that telltale- …

Black and red berries, marzipan, laurel, eucalyptus and cedar. Medium-long length. Good match for veal roast with mushrooms and Jerusalem artichokes. Some VA - which is annoying. I would have liked some earthy notes - but then again - I'm probably to blame for opening the bottle in its youth.

Good purity of ripe blackcurrant, fresh bell peppers, dry chillies with undertones of toasted tobacco and clove. An hour in the decanter brought the richness and depth of flavours on the palate. Medium-bodied structure which is open and rounded, fine tannins underpin the core from entry to a lingering finish. Ready to drink with some decanting, the balance call for at least a decade of aging to unleash its full potential.

The best thing about this wine is its sophisticated aroma profile, which reminds me of cloves, potting soil, natto, cedar, and cassis. This is serious wine, no doubt. The weakness of this wine, from my point of view, is the thinness and tartness on the palate compared to what you’d find in a high-class Bordeaux or Napa cab. Perhaps a sommelier might consider the wine’s light structure a virtue. But for me tonight, drinking this wine without food, I crave …

This was a vibrant Cabernet in a lighter bodied, fruit driven style. Aromas of blackberry, cedar and mint give way to raspberry jam and Red Vines flavors spiced with dried herbs, oregano being most pronounced. Grippy tannins and a long finish that at times left impressions of ripe peach.

Tasted blind. Bright ruby color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose is attractively perfumed with notes of smoked sage and eucalyptus on dark and red berries. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied with bright acidity that elegantly presides over the ripe raspberry and blueberry fruits. There are secondary notes of cedar, leather and tobacco coming from the toasted oak. Finishes long and mentholated. This is quite elegant, refined and very balanced. Drink now until 2035. 93+
